**REPORTING STRUCTURE, WORK SETTING & COMPENSATION**

**Reports To**: Board of Directors, with access to Regional Manager for operational guidance and support

**Direct Reports**: 40+, mix of paid staff and volunteers

**Hours of Work**: Store hours are Monday to Saturday, 9 am to 9 pm. General Manager is expected to work 44 hours per week within these core business hours, ensuring presence during a mix of all days and dayparts.

**Compensation & Benefits**:

- Annual salary $70,000 - $80,000 based on experience
- Bonus commission based on achievement of sales targets
- Annual Healthcare Spending Allowance
- 3 weeks vacation
- Flexible, self-determined schedule

**REQUIRED COMMITMENT**
- Follower of Jesus Christ who wholeheartedly subscribes to the Mission Thrift Store Statement of Faith and Purpose
- In fulfilling your responsibilities, you will be required to pray with people who work or volunteer for Mission Thrift Stores. This may include but is not limited to opening in prayer at Mission Thrift Store Board and/or Staff Meetings, Mission Thrift Store events, BFM Foundation (Canada) Annual Conference. A love for Bible-based ministry in Canada and around the world.

**HOW YOU WILL CONTRIBUTE**
- Oversee the development and implementation of comprehensive control systems for budgets, cash flows, and inventory management, specifically geared toward the achievement of revenue targets and ensuring profitability
- Establish and enforce rigorous standards for donations, inventory control, sales strategies, and marketing initiatives, optimizing operational efficiency and revenue generation within a large-scale retail environment.
- Strategically allocate and maximize floor space utilization to enhance the display and sale of inventory, ensuring an appealing and customer-friendly shopping experience.
- Prioritize and maintain a safe environment for customers, volunteers, and staff, adhering to regulatory requirements and implementing robust safety protocols.
- Implement effective recruitment, training, and scheduling procedures to manage a diverse team of volunteers and staff members, fostering a cohesive and high-performing work culture.
- Evaluate incoming donations to ensure quality and suitability for resale, maintaining the store's reputation for offering exceptional value on high-quality merchandise.
- Lead the recruitment and selection process for all staff positions, identifying and hiring top talent to support the store's objectives and growth targets.
- Conduct regular performance evaluations for all staff members, providing constructive feedback and ensuring equitable compensation in alignment with organizational policies.
- Prepare and present detailed monthly reports to the Board of Directors, offering insights into store performance, financial metrics, and strategic initiatives, and actively participate in board meetings.
- Develop and manage budgets for marketing, advertising, and promotional activities, collaborating with stakeholders to drive brand awareness and customer engagement while supporting overall store objectives.
- Lead daily prayer and devotions with volunteers and staff, promoting team cohesion, and emphasizing shared Christian values and mission alignment.

**QUALIFICATIONS**
- Proven track record of at least 5 years in senior management roles within the retail sector, demonstrating successful oversight of large-scale operations, staff, and volunteer teams in stores with annual revenues exceeding $2M and a footprint of at least 20,000 sq ft. Thrift experience is strongly preferred.
- Advanced proficiency with computer software for developing comprehensive spreadsheets, creating word processing documents, and leveraging technology to optimize operational processes.
- Extensive experience with Point of Sale (POS) systems, including setup, maintenance, and utilization to streamline transactions and inventory management within a high-volume retail environment.
- Exceptional written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills, with the ability to effectively engage with diverse stakeholders, including customers, staff, volunteers, and external partners.
- Strong aptitude for time management and organizational efficiency, adept at prioritizing tasks, delegating responsibilities, and meeting deadlines in a fast-paced retail setting.
