Day One Society (Phoenix Centre) provides substance use services and advocacy for individuals, families and communities. We have a 25-bed inpatient detox unit, outpatient youth counselling, and supportive recovery programs.

Job Summary:
Reporting to the Detox Supervisor the UC performs a variety of clerical duties in the detox program including admissions and discharges in collaboration with a multi-disciplinary team. This position requires flexibility and responsiveness in a stressful environment, often dealing with participants in crisis situations. The position requires a moderate level of physical fitness to effectively carry out the duties of this position.
Key Duties and Responsibilities:
Intake Triage
- Triages client intake over the phone, completing pre-determined assessments, screening and booking of clients in consultation with team.
- Answers the telephone dealing with general inquiries, crisis calls, redirecting calls as appropriate.
- Relays accurate and timely messages to clients and staff as needed.
- Provides information for clients on relevant activities and meetings.
- Maintains client-booking system and files; photocopying and faxing as required; relevant data entry into booking, and client tracking systems.
Post Booking Duties
- Assists with file review after discharge, making corrections to the AIMS form
- Sessional Billing for Phoenix Centre Physicians

- Provides coverage for the Detox Admin and Reception positions as required
- Performs other related duties as required and directed by the Detox Supervisor and/or designate.
Education and Experience
- Minimum of Grade 12
- Medical Office Assistant Diploma an asset
- At least 2 years’ experience in office administration procedures
- At least 2 years’ experience dealing with the public by phone and in person
- At least 2 years’ experience working in a multi-disciplinary team
- Experience working with the harm reduction model is an asset
- Experience with electronic medical records will be an asset
Knowledge
- Intermediate to excellent knowledge of Microsoft Word, Excel and Outlook
- Knowledge of Microsoft SharePoint an asset
- Knowledge of pathophysiology related to substance abuse
- Knowledge of mental health issues as they related to substance abuse

**Job Types**: Full-time, Temporary
Contract length: 12 months
Pay: $24.04-$25.61 per hour
Expected hours: 37.5 per week
