**META** is seeking a **Production Mechanical Specialist** for our Thurso, QC facility. The Production Mechanical Specialist works in a team environment and is responsible for maintaining the production of security features for high value documents based on the manufacture of vacuum deposited optical thin films, embossed structures, and printing/coating processes equipment. The Mechanical Specialist works under the general direction of the Sr. Manager of Production and is an integral member of a team of Production Specialist that provides multi-skilled support and operation of production equipment to our exacting tolerances.

**What You'll Do**:
The Production mechanical Specialist performs repairs and maintains the production equipment (roll coater, conversion equipment, embossing & coating equipment) providing specialized skills to high vacuum, embossing, coating, mechanical, and hardware systems used in the manufacture of vacuum deposited metallized and optical thin films, UV casted and coated films. In addition, this role will troubleshoot the production equipment including theorizing problems, researching solutions, and implementing corrective measures. It also cleans production equipment after each run using personal protective equipment (PPE), and then prepares for another production run with new materials.
Requires strong mechanical aptitude to operate standard machine shop tools such as lathe, drill press, milling machine, and Mig/Tig/Oxi-Acetylene welding skills. Operates the production equipment, constantly monitoring the process, assessing variables, and making process input decisions. Supports conversion equipment, embossing & coating equipment.

**Key Responsibilities**:

- Performs mechanical repairs and maintains the production equipment.

**Minimum Qualifications and Experience**:

- Engineering Technologist, Technician, or Millwright with specialization in mechanical fabrication.
- Good understanding of electro mechanical systems, or similar technical area with a minimum of three years demonstrated industrial work experience.
- Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to foster collaborative working relationships among internal teams.
- English language proficiency, both oral and written

**Preferred Qualifications and Assets**:

- Mechanical or Robotics Engineering Technologist or Technician
- Five years demonstrated experience supporting manufacturing industry.
- Experience in the secure printing industry
- Bilingual English & French, both oral and written
