**Hiring: First Cooks - Restaurant**

**SERIOUS CANDIDATES ONLY, with a minimum 4 years culinary experience in a fine dining establishment or currently enrolled or have completed culinary school. All others will not be considered/contacted.**

The Toronto Golf Club established in 1876 is the third oldest private golf club in North America. We are a from scratch kitchen, using the freshest ingredients, seasonal approach is reflected on our menus. We also offer unique culinary initiatives onsite foraging for mushrooms, fiddleheads, wild leeks etc.... The Toronto Golf Club also has a extensive onsite maple syrup production.

Hiring 2 positions. With each position having a set schedule.

**Schedule #1**: Saturday-Wednesday, shifts will be Saturday & Sunday 9-5pm and Monday-Wednesday 2-11pm with Thursday & Friday's off.

**Schedule #2**: Monday-Friday working, 2-11pm. Weekends off.

**JOB REQUIREMENTS**
- Pervious related job experience is required.
- Proficient culinary and knife knowledge is key.
- Must be able to stoop and bend, as well as maneuver up and down stairs.
- Must be able to carry and lift items weighing up to 30lbs.
- Must be able to stand for extended periods of time.
- Must have the ability to work flexible hours including evenings, weekends and holidays.

**SUMMARY OF POSITION**: First _Cooks reporting to the Executive Chef, Sous Chef, Pastry Chef, Jr. Sous Chef and ultimately the Clubhouse Manager, is responsible for the preparation of breakfast, lunch and dinner food items per guest orders in accordance with production requirements and quality standards, while maintaining a safe and sanitary work environment._

**KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES**:

- Prepares food items as per Menu's, of consistent quality following recipe cards, as well as production, portion and presentation standards; completes mise en place and set up station for breakfast, lunch and/or dinner service.
- Start food items that are prepared ahead of time, making sure not to prepare beyond estimated needs.
- Operates, maintains and properly cleans kitchen equipment including but not limited to deep fryer, broiler, stove, steamer, food processor, mixer, slicer, oven, steam table and flat top grill.
- Date all food containers and rotate as per policies, making sure that all perishables are kept at proper temperatures; check pars for shift use, determine necessary preparation, freezer pull and line set up, note any out-of-stock items or possible shortages, return all food items not used to designated storage areas, being sure to cover/date all perishables, assist in setting up plans and actions to correct any food cost problems, control food waste, loss and usage per policies.
- Maintains a clean and organized work area and promote ‘clean as you go’ concept during your shift.
- Assists fellow workers in their duties whenever possible, without neglecting own duties. Maintains and ensures good spirited teamwork and work ethics with all other employees.
- Has a complete understanding of The Toronto Golf Club’s policies, rules and regulations as outlined in the employee handbook.
- Ensures that all Club policies, Food & Beverage policies and Health and Safety policies are adhered to in accordance with the standards established by the Club.
- Performs other duties that may be assigned from time to time by any member of the management group.

**Job Types**: Full-time, Seasonal
Contract length: 7 months

Pay: $20.00-$22.00 per hour

Expected hours: 44 per week
