**Employment Term**: Contract July 2024 - March 31st, 2025, possibility of renewal Full time hours (35 hours/ week)

**Reports To**: Executive Director

**General Description**:
The Mi’kmaw Native Friendship Centre is centrally located in the urban Indigenous community of Halifax and is looking for **One (1) Victim Support & Human Trafficking Manager**.

**Key Accountabilities**
- Coordinate and implement a human trafficking strategy for urban Indigenous communities across the Atlantic provinces
- Work as a team and with interdepartmental programs and services to meet the needs of clients/ community members
- Promote and maintain a high degree of confidentiality
- Research funding sources and prepare funding proposals for current and new funding opportunities to ensure client and organizational needs are met
- Meet with clients to assess their progress, give support and discuss any difficulties or problems they may have, while staying up to date on community needs and trends
- Provide crisis intervention and assist clients in obtaining emergency services
- Communicate the MNFCs-Victim Services program’s vision, mission and values to promote and build awareness among the broader communities
- Plan, implement and evaluate special projects and programs related to victim services and human trafficking in support of women who are victimized
- Collaborate with other organizations (provincial, federal, municipal departments), victim support programs to ensure timely access to resources and services for clients/ community members
- Coordinate meetings, conferences and public information sessions in effort to educate and raise awareness
- Research and seek out innovative ideas that attributes to victim services for Indigenous women.
- Work with clients/ community members to ensure they continue to develop healthy life skills and actively engage with clients to ensure they have the support needed to overcome challenges which arise due to trauma related experiences.
- Adhere to all policies governing the Mi’kmaw Native Friendship Centre
- May perform other related duties as assigned.

**Qualifications and Experience Required for the Position**:

- Diploma/ certification in Social Services or University degree in Social Work, child and youth care, psychology or other social science/ health related discipline
- Minimum of 5 years community service work related experience or a combination of work experience and education may be considered
- Experience managing staff
- Must have Non-violence Crisis Intervention and Prevention certification
- Knowledgeable in Human Trafficking and Violence against women
- Strong leadership skills, reasoning, decision-making skills, and excellent communication skills (verbal/ written)
- Knowledge of Indigenous Culture and Traditions
- Experience working with community organizations, shelter and safe houses
- Must be flexible and able to work some weekends and evenings
- Some travel may be required
- Must have a valid driver’s license, reliable car and valid insurance
- Experience working with the Urban Indigenous Community considered an asset
