**Job Summary**

The **Sales Analyst **will work with the Business Development team to support processes related to business retention, expansion, attraction/investment, and trade to the Calgary region.

This is a 12-week Term.

**Duties**:

- Support the coordination of event and project logistics for outbound and inbound investment missions, including site tours, event schedules, meeting with companies and government officials, and marketing materials.
- Assist with secondary research on the economic, demographic and industry trends to assist in the development of materials for client use as well as content for business case developments
- Use research tools to target potential investment leads for lead generation campaigns
- Support the development of opportunities and strategies to reach out to key target lists in focus regions o Assist in comparative research of other regions in North America on talent, cost of doing business, quality of life and affordability to support business case developments
- Support the BD team with its Customer Relationship Management (CRM) system with the input of information, import of data and export of relevant reports
- Assist in the preparation of PowerPoint presentations that help us market our initiatives to stakeholders.
- Assessing the investment process and making recommendations for improved outcomes
- May also include responsibilities related to Talent Attraction and Trade
- Supporting the sales process of the BD team, as well as establishing and maintaining appropriate communications with prospects, is a key responsibility of this role._

**Client Services**

During the employment term, the Business Development Intern will learn how to communicate on behalf of the organization efficiently and professionally. They will be required to provide exceptional client services for key stakeholders, existing clients and potential clients when providing research and services. They will also experience internal client service experience by providing internal briefings and assignments for management and other staff as required.

**Teamwork**

Teamwork will be essential during the internship and will be developed further as the Business Development Intern will require strong teamwork skills during the internship, which will be developed further as the inter works and collaborates with their team and other Calgary Economic Development staff to complete research projects and overall company goals. They will work with small groups within the organization, as well as larger groups that may include public sector, key stakeholders, civic partners, and the private sector.

**Communication Skills**

Throughout the internship, the Business Development Intern will develop written and oral communication skills as they will be required to regularly communicate with colleagues, clients, and key stakeholders. They will also develop oral communication skills while attending meetings and events, learning to network and discuss the organization’s objectives.

**Supervision Plan**

The Business Development Intern will report directly to and work day-to-day under the supervision of the Investment Manager who will provide guidance on a day-to-day basis. The Investment Manager will provide the intern with a framework on how performance will be assessed and a list of expected deliverables for the summer term. Progress on deliverables will be tracked and discussed through weekly meetings. At the midpoint and during the final week of the internship, the Investment Manager will hold meetings with the intern to provide them with an assessment on overall performance on the work achieved to date.

**Team Mentoring**

The Business Development Intern will report directly to and work closely with the Investment Manager, who will act as the intern’s main mentor for the duration of the internship. The Manager will train the interns and will guide them in terms of deliverables and projects that are required. In addition, the intern will work closely with the rest of the Business Development team and other staff from Calgary Economic Development who will provide them with guidance and input that will ensure they are able to perform at a high level and deliver work that is of value to Calgary Economic Development and its stakeholders
