ROLE

This position consists of estimating/tendering commercial electrical construction opportunities ranging from small renovations to large industrial-commercial-institutional (ICI) construction projects. The Estimator provides the estimating as well as the guidelines necessary to plan, direct, control, and organize the completion of successful tenders within the time and budgets allocated.

RESPONSIBILITES

The principal duties of the Estimator shall consist of, but not be limited to, the following:

- Review and evaluate tendering opportunities and provide recommendation to management.
- Complete estimate from a set of drawings, sketches and/or on-site inspections.
- Perform site visits, if necessary, to ascertain critical information and represent the company in a professional manner.
- Review drawings and specifications to accurately complete material and equipment take offs while ensuring design requirements are respected.
- Submit all relevant information, with respect to material and equipment take off, to suppliers to obtain competitive pricing.
- Compare supplier's bill of material to submitted take off to ensure accuracy and complete price comparisons of suppliers.
- Include proper costs associated with required permits, certificates, bonds and insurance, as required by governmental regulations.
- Assign labor units to material and equipment take off, to calculate material, equipment and labor extension, and complete a full estimate.
- Review estimate with the project manager as to ensure manpower and efficiency required to complete the work.
- Submit accurate estimate on budget, with gross profit quota and within time frame of bid deadline needed by customer.
- Follow up on tendered opportunities to obtain results and information of the comparable.
- Ensure the estimating pipeline is full.
- Maintain log of tendered estimates and ensure good bid to award ratio - based on current market conditions.
- Maintain a professional work environment with all personnel.
- Provide, to project manager, if estimate is successful and project proceeds:

- Accurate records of work instructions outlining activities and details estimated.
- Responsibility matrix for foreman and project manager specific duties.
- Production and installation schedules.
- Analysis of post-mortem findings.

QUALIFICATIONS
- A diploma or degree in related field (electrical designation preferred) or equivalent experience.
- Strong computer skills and ability to learn estimating software.
- Motivated and able to work with non-flexible daily deadlines.
- Ability to work independently and part of a team.
- Ability to manage multiple projects and to prioritize tasks in a fast-paced work environment.
- Excellent communication and organizational skills.
- Acute attention to detail and insight into possible scope gaps.
- Effectively work with customers, consultants, co-workers and management.
- Coordinate effectively with suppliers and develop strong reliable working relationships.
- Reliability / Secret Security clearance is an asset.
- Field experience and/or trade license is an asset.
- Understanding and working knowledge of the Ontario Electrical Safety Code is an asset.

EDUCATION AND CERTIFICATION
- Valid Canadian Driver’s License.
- University bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering; or
- Certified Engineering Technologist (CET); or
- Licensed Electrical Journeyperson - Construction & Maintenance 309A.

EXPERIENCE
- 1 to 5 years electrical ICI construction estimating experience.

LANGUAGE
- Proficiency in English is a must.
- Proficiency in French is an asset.

**Salary**: $75,000.00-$125,000.00 per year
