**Who We Are**

Helping Spirit Lodge Society (HSLS) is a not-for-profit organization founded as a result of the community discussions and decisions made during community forums through 1990. The United

Native Nations originally sponsored the first project and opened office for the society on

February 1, 1990. The organization is dedicated to providing wrap-around services to Women and Children fleeing violence.

**Position Summary**

This Housing Outreach Worker position compliments and supports the existing Spirit Lodge team. The Housing Outreach Worker provides client centered and culturally appropriate services through the housing continuum from homelessness obtaining and maintain permeant housing options. As part of an integrated Case Management Team, the Housing Outreach Worker provides support n identifying and accessing resources in the community and when appropriate, may accompany clients to appointments, meetings and community resource opportunities.

- Includes the ability to communicate important information verbally and written, maintain records of contact with residents and landlords, excellent open listening skills, and commitment to continually seek understanding of the culture, protocol, and communication processes of

Indigenous peoples

Commitment
- Commitment to carrying the objectives of Helping Spirit Lodge Society; delivering services that provide a safe shelter to Indigenous women and children

Indigenous Centered Service Approach
- Demonstrate a knowledge of/experience with Indigenous peoples in Canada

Building Trust Relationships
- Maintain confidentiality in respect to Helping Spirit Lodge Society and all its clientele and demonstrate ability to exercise non-judgement and adherence to confidentiality

- A minimum of two years recent related experience which should including: counselling skills

**Other**
- Understanding of addiction and other abuse issues and current treatment models
- Have an understanding of Homelessness issues facing Urban Indigenous population
- Must successfully pass Criminal Record Check
