Developmental Service Worker

**Location: Burlington, ON**
**MUST BE AVAILABLE**:
**Weekday mornings and afternoons to work with several different clients individually**
**Must have own vehicle and be able to take clients for outings in car, with appropriate auto insurance coverage**
**A Travel Allowance of $7.50 for each in-person client session is paid in addition to the hourly wage. This is the equivalent of $25.25/hr for a standard 2 hour session**
**Must be double vaccinated for Covid-19**
**You will need to provide proof of a negative COVID-19 test completed no earlier than 2 weeks before starting sessions**
**Responsibilities**:
∙Promote healthy lifestyles.
∙Help people manage their disease and symptoms.
∙Help people meet their personal goals.
∙Encourage people to take an active role in their social and recreational lives.
∙Promote independence and self-esteem.
∙Help people accept their illness or disability and cope with the loss of normal life events.
∙Help people in managing stress.
∙Promote exercise and physical activity for adults and seniors.
**Provide client Assessments & Interventions**
- Create and deliver one to one therapeutic recreation interventions for clients living with cognitive impairments, mental health issues and physical disabilities who are living in long-term care, the community or their own homes.
- Complete assessments, establish goals and evaluate
- Design programs reflective of assessed needs
- Adjust programs to changing needs and/or abilities of the client
**Documentation**
- Documentation is done online using our leading edge RecTrackerTM0 system
- Complete session progress notes thoroughly and with attention to deadlines
**Customer Service**
- Develop a positive professional working relationship with facility staff and client family members
- Provide all client services in a timely and professional manner
**Minimum Qualifications**:
- A diploma/degree in Developmental Services Worker or Recreation and Leisure Studies/Therapeutic Recreation
- 1-2 years documented experience working with adults with developmental delay and mental health challenges
- 1-2 years knowledge of and documented experience with developmental delay, therapeutic recreation assessment techniques, establishing treatment plans, program development, implementation, documentation and evaluation
**Desired Certifications**
- GPA (Gentle Persuasive Approach)
- CPI (Non-Violent Crisis Intervention)
- Montessori
- CPR/First Aid
**Additional requirements**
- Current Vulnerable Sector Police Clearance certificate, TB test, and COVID-19 test
- Covid Vaccination is required
- Your own vehicle will be an asset
