**The Opportunity**:
Reporting to the Manager, Inpatient, and Ambulatory Medical Care, under the supervision of the Clinical Leader, the Ward Clerk performs a variety of reception and clerical duties required for the efficient operation of the Pediatric Medical Unit. The Ward Clerk interacts with colleagues, patients, families, students, and the public in a respectful and collaborative manner in keeping with principles of family-centered care, and Health Centre standards to meet the needs of women, children, youth, and their families.

Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

- Answering phone calls, relaying messages and referral calls with follow-up as appropriate
- Providing direction to patients, family members, and others as required
- Processing incoming/outgoing mail
- Entering data accurately and in a timely manner
- Delivers specimens to lab as required
- Enacting transport functions
- Ordering and maintaining supplies
- Computer order entry of lab tests, diagnostic tests etc.
- Other duties as required

**Hours of Work**:
Monday to Friday (1530-2130)

**Your Qualifications**:

- Minimum High School Diploma or GED required.
- Completion of a recognized Secretarial or Office Administration Diploma Program preferred.
- Previous experience in a similar role preferred.
- Demonstrated accurate keyboarding and data entry skills required.
- Working knowledge of Meditech (e.g., PCI, Order entry) required.
- Demonstrated proficiency with Windows, MS Office Suite (Outlook, Word, Excel, Access, etc) required.
- Demonstrated excellent organization skills, strong communication and interpersonal skills required.
- Demonstrated strong time management, multi-tasking, and problem-solving skills required.
- Demonstrated ability to prioritize workload required.
- Demonstrated initiative; self-motivated and able to work with mínimal supervision/direction required.
- Demonstrated high regard for quality, accuracy, and attention to detail required.
- Demonstrated ability to work well with others and in an interprofessional team environment required.
- Demonstrated flexibility to meet workload demands required.
- Knowledge of medical terminology preferred.
- Working knowledge of office equipment (e.g., fax machine, photocopier, scanner, etc.) preferred.
- Demonstrated strong customer service skills preferred.
- Knowledge of Access Passport, MedWorxx, and Sharepoint is an asset.
- Knowledge of Family Centred Care is an asset.
- Competencies in other languages are an asset.
