**Purpose**:
The Custodian ensures that the building facilities are tidied up for communal use, and that any problems with the property or facilities are promptly reported to the Program Manager and/or Parish Administrator.

**Tasks**:

- The primary role of the Custodian is to keep the building, indoor spaces, garage, sheds, fences, and grounds clean, tidy, serviceable, and in good condition.
- The Custodian is required to be present on site in the evenings and weekends(may occasionally be required) to assist parish groups, rental groups or people visiting the St John’s. A responsive and welcoming approach to all who use our building and property is an important aspect of this role.
- The Custodian is responsible for cleaning, inspecting, and maintaining the property according to an approved schedule and ad hoc tasks. Minor repairs will be made as required, and if funds are needed for parts or materials then the appropriate authority will be sought to proceed. The Custodian may also be tasked to support other planned major repairs and projects.
- The Custodian will clean, inspect, and maintain the dining space, offices, classrooms, choir room and kitchens, as well as storage areas and washrooms.
- Responsible for building security and safety when on site:
**1. **Required to periodically check that doors and access points are locked when not required at times when the building is open, and again at final lock-up before leaving the site.

**2. **Be aware of any conditions that may be unsafe for our visitors and take corrective action to remove the hazard, post caution signs, or prevent access as appropriate.

**3. **Occasionally required to ask people, who present a security risk, to leave the building and/or to call the Police when necessary.

**4.** Required to notify the Program Manager and Church Administrator of any security related situations that occur

**Pattern of Work**
- The Custodian must be present and working at The Well from **Monday to Friday 2:50 PM to 6:00 PM **and St John’s **6:00pm-10:00pm.**:

- In some occasions, the Custodian may be asked to work different hours during events or/and weekends/evenings, according to operational demands.
- The Custodian will meet with the Program Manager for a weekly debrief, and overview of the Custodian’s performance and to address any improvement the Program Manager deems necessary.
- **Working hours will be a total of 36 hours per week: 16 hours** with community ministries **and 20 hours **with St John’s.
- Further to the above, the Custodian shall:_

**On a daily basis**:

- Check and empty all garbage cans throughout. Recycle daily. Pick up any trash on grounds.
- Sweep/vacuum daily all areas on a rotational basis.
- Dusting and glass cleaning.
- Clean washrooms, mop floor, refill paper towels, toilet paper, and soap.
- In season, rake leaves, clear ice and shovel snow on all three entrances.
- Assist groups with set-up and take-down of furniture required for events or meetings.
- Advise the Program Manager and/or Parish Administrator when any repairs need to be done.
- Complete and submit the Monthly Timesheet to Program Manager and Parish Administrator.

**On a weekly basis**:

- Assemble and set out for pick up all garbage and recycling containers.
- Sweep/vacuum and mop all floors, (meeting rooms) offices upstairs and on the main floor (basement).
- Sweep/vacuum and mop the kitchen, washrooms and halls.
- Inspect and clean the stairs, storage rooms, entrance ways, and outside ramp.

**On a monthly basis**:

- **Inspect & test all smoke alarms** and replace batteries, as required and fill out the log book.
- **Inspect all fire extinguishers and initial their tags**.
- Order and pick up cleaning supplies and light bulbs as required.
- Touch up paints as required or as tasked.

**Job Types**: Full-time, Permanent

**Salary**: $17.50 per hour
