Additionally, with the aim of enabling successful transaction execution and integration, these abilities aid in the initiation and implementation of action plans for due diligence as well as for the formulation of preferred routes of approach. The M&A Analyst constructs and actively communicates with cross-functional departments in support of the diligence and investigation of prospective opportunities.

**EXPECTED CONTRIBUTIONS**:
**Responsibilities**:
**Research & Prospecting**:

- Conduct research on prospective firms and prepare customized presentations for business executive teams to use in negotiation meetings.
- Collect large amounts of data on other companies, firms etc., and become highly knowledgeable on the competitive landscape within the Mining, Construction and related technology areas of consideration.
- Contact prospective mergers and acquisitions and prepare appointments for prospective businesses to meet with corporate leadership and senior management.
- Research and approach merger and acquisition targets through multiple channels inclusive of internet prospecting, such as employee referrals, networking, database searches, internet ads, and brokerage referrals.

**Strategy**:

- Understand HCM’s strategic plans and objectives, as well as those of associated group companies, and assess potential target companies in that perspective.
- Enhance marketing materials and acquisition stories that position the business with potential targets.
- Develop detailed industry materials for various industry sub-sectors, plans, prioritizes, and delivers marketing enhancements.
- Maintain healthy consumer relations during the period of a merger or acquisition deal from formulation to execution.

**Analytics**:

- Formulate financial analyses based on shared private and public information, inclusive of the prospective business’s company revenue, staff resources assessments, and general due diligence.
- Conduct research and analysis on prospective business’s customers as well as their industry sub-sectors to assess value of prospects’ solutions to those customers.
- Initiate the tracking of key metrics and ensures that the data gathered is accurate and current to create reports for senior merger and acquisition management for consideration.
- Assess the potential contribution of prospect business to HCM’s operating business unit/group company offerings and the larger HCM digital strategy, both from a complementary solution perspective and financial contribution in terms of ROI (Return on Investment) and AOI (Annual Operating Income objectives).

**Collaboration**:

- Work closely with senior M&A management and key HCM and group company stakeholders on all prospecting activities and merger and acquisition targets within the business’s market.
- Work with internal and external technology teams as part of deeper due diligence, and in defining associated systems and business processes necessary to facilitate the merger or acquisition at hand.

**Other Duties**:

- Ad-hoc requests as required.

**EXPERIENCE, KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITY REQUIRED**:
Experience required is indicative only. All other job specifications must be met.
- A bachelor’s degree in Business, Accounting, Finance, Economics, or any other related quantitative and business field or equivalent practical experience. MBA with strong financial skills highly preferred.
- 3-5 years’ experience with corporate M&A or Venture Capital is a requirement, preferably performing this role currently or within the past two years.
- Previous experience in the technology sector, particularly in industrial technologies, preferably but not necessarily in Mining or Construction.
- Experience with relational database management systems such as Oracle, SQL Server, MySQL, and Sybase.
- Experience in CRM
- English fluency is a requirement, Japanese is a definite plus.
- Proficiency in the use of Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- Strong interpersonal skills

Base salary of CAD $130,000 - $165,000, commensurate with experience and qualifications.
