**Job Purpose**

As a member of the SAIT community, Saitsa recognizes the importance of supporting a culture of academic integrity and the CSSCC works collaboratively with other Saitsa and SAIT departments to develop initiatives that work to support students’ awareness and comprehension of their rights and responsibilities.

**Duties and Responsibilities**

**Administration**
- Develops and maintains information systems whereby student-based issues are tracked to preserve Saitsa’s history and effectively archive knowledge that has future value.
- Develops and maintains a comprehensive knowledge base on issues and concerns that impact SAIT students as well as applicable campus and community resources.
- Establishes appointment calendar that balances both student and departmental needs.
- Provides support to the department in the planning and implementation of Saitsa’s Election activities.
- Supports the day-to-day operation of the Governance & Advocacy Office by providing general inquiry and walk-in supports when required..

**Leadership**
- Provides student-centric customer service to all students wishing to engage with Governance & Advocacy or other Saitsa departments.
- Models high standards of organizational integrity by working in accordance with the best interests of Saitsa, the organizational Policies & Procedures, and Bylaws.
- In collaboration with the Administrative Assistant, creates an inclusive and safe space in the Governance & Advocacy office to promote professionalism and approachability.
- Assists the department in the annual onboarding of the Board of Directors.

**Student Engagement**
- Collaborates with the SAIT office of the Ombudsperson to advise students about their rights, assists in drafting/reviewing written submissions, prepares the student for hearings, and assists with other appropriate requests from students.
- When possible and desired, attends student’s hearings and meetings with instructors/academic chairs, etc. to support the student through the process.
- Develops healthy relationships with SAIT departments (Learner Services, International Centre, Office of Community Conduct, Office of EDI, etc.) and faculty to facilitate appropriate referrals and supports for students.
- Plans, coordinates and leads student engagement activities (info booths, classroom talks, poster campaigns, etc.) focused on empowering students with a culture of academic integrity and a healthy campus community.
- Cultivates an empowering,warm and confidential environment for student meetings.
- Offers appropriate resources for students going through new and difficult situations, especially international students as they present complex needs different from domestic students.
- Refers students to appropriate campus and community resources when student needs fall outside of the responsibility of the role.

Other duties, as requested by the Manager, Governance & Advocacy.

**Qualifications**

**Education**
Post-secondary education in social work, psychology, communicaty advocacy/development or in a related field.

**Additional Skills**
