As head baker, you will cover the basics such as food safety, high standards, attention to detail, etc. You will have the opportunity to associate your name and your reputation with a small but growing world class bakery. You will also gain experience and hone your skills.
You will gain experience
1. Managing all day-to-day operations of the patisserie and boulangerie section of the kitchen.
2. Preparing a wide variety of goods such as artisan doughnuts, bagels, breads, featured specials following traditional and modern recipes.
3. Enhancing your existing bakery skills to produce all baked goods including but not limited to artisan breads, bagels, doughnuts, fillings, glazes, icings, laminated pastries and other confectionaries.
4. Developing, designs, create new ideas and put time efficient systems into place that meet the production schedule requirements.
5. Flexing your creativity making new and exciting weekly features in advance for our
media/marketing team to advertise
6. Ensuring excellent quality standards and manage staff with the same expectations and standard (remember all of our reputations are connected to our standards)
7. Exhibitting artistry in pastry decoration, design and implementation
8. Supervising and coordinate food product preparation and presentation.
9. Assisting in determining how food should be presented and displayed.
You will get a wealth of experience in each of the above while carrying out your responsibilities. This is a ground floor opportunity in a growing world class project.
Skills you will practice include:
Standard maintenance, attention to detail, recognizing superior quality products, different fermentation techniques, complex flavor profiles, management and good communication.
**Prerequisites**:
- Superior knowledge of various types & styles of European pastries & breads.
- Possess professional disposition with good communication and ability to train staff effectively
- Ability to work a variety of shifts including overnight & day shifts in accordance with product requirements
- Positive attitude & passion for creating quality products made in house
**Education**:
4+ years experience in the culinary, food and beverage, or related professional area + certified degree from an accredited post-secondary institution in Culinary Arts & Pastry. References & documents of certification will be required.
**Experience**:
Minimum of 4 years of experience in patisserie and boulangerie or Pastry Chef experience with high volume food production.
**All applicants MUST be eligible to work in Canada and be willing to submit to a background & criminal record check.**
**Job Types**: Full-time, Permanent, Apprenticeship
**Salary**: $16.00-$25.00 per hour
Expected hours: 40 per week
