**Kahkiyaw Ayisiyinowak ka Wahkotot** - "All people, especially traditional peoples, are related" - Kahkiyaw is a new and ground-breaking Aboriginal-led and community-based program created to significantly improve the lives of Aboriginal children, youth, and families in the Edmonton and Area Children and Family Services Authority (CFSA).

Kahkiyaw is being delivered in partnership by Bent Arrow Traditional Healing Society and Boyle Street Community Services, two community organizations with a long and successful history of serving Aboriginal people in Edmonton. Working closely with CFSA Central Neighbourhood Centre, and using the Outcome Based Service Delivery (OBSD) model, the program will provide a continuum of services to improve the outcomes for Aboriginal children and families in our city.

**Circle Keeper**

This position is the facilitator, or peacemaker, on the team who leads Family Circle and assists the Family Wellness Worker in crisis situations to help foster peace among children, youth and families and/or among the team. Circle Keepers work alongside our Family Wellness Workers to support children and families in various capacities. Having knowledge or Indigenous Teachings is an asset as we work directly with Indigenous families.
- Culturally connected and trained in facilitation, mediation, and conflict resolution.
- Facilitating sharing and healing circles when needed by the family.
- Healing circles allows the family an opportunity to feel empowered and confident to make their own decisions in support of their children.
- Establishing strong relationships with families and children.
- Linking families to community resources.
- Mentoring and role modeling youth.
- Circle Keepers must also have knowledge in the Indigenous culture and traditions.
- Effective Communicator
- Ability to seek, research and develop family connections.
- **Education and Credentials**:

- 3-5 years of work experience in the human services field is required.
- Degree or diploma is an asset.
- Having your own vehicle for transportation is a must.
- Experience working with Indigenous families is an asset.
- Current (within 6 months) Criminal Record check and Child & Family Intervention check, and Driver’s Abstract (without outstanding issues) is required prior to starting employment.
- Family Group Conference training is an asset.

**Salary and Benefits**
- Salary will be discussed at interview.
- Paid sick and wellness days after 3 months’ probation.
- Extended Health Benefit (50/50 cost sharing) after 6 months’ employment.

**Start Date**

This position is to start immediately.
