Youth Settlement Worker

Vancouver, Canada Kiwassa Neighbourhood Services Association Full time

**Responsibilities**:

- Works collaboratively as part of the Settlement Team, Youth Programs Team, and with other Kiwassa programs and community partners.
- Meets with youth to do intakes, provides one-on-one support as needed, facilitates community connections, and referrals to settlement/community services for newcomer youth.
- Fosters relationships and communication with schools, other community service providers and partners and parents or legal guardians of youth.
- Maintains program and participant records and statistics. Provides reports to supervisor and/or funder, including IRCC’s iCARE data entry and complies with privacy legislation and all relevant regulations and policies.
- Co-creates and maintains a strengths-based, inclusive, engaging, youth-centred program.
- Plans, organizes, implements youth life skills activities and workshops. Encourages and facilitates youth participation in activities.
- Ensures the health and safety of youth.
- Guides and supports youth in their journey towards positive development and growth.
- Monitors progress and needs of youth in consultation with supervisor.
- Promotes the program through distribution of materials, presentations in the community and ongoing outreach at various schools.
- Follows Kiwassa’s established standards, policies and procedures.
- Uses relevant database and CRM systems to input statistics and data.

**Qualifications**:
**Education and Knowledge**
- Diploma in social services or related discipline.
- Fluency in English and an additional language(s) an asset.

**Training and Experience**
- A minimum of 2 years experience in the settlement sector, specifically with youth
- Or an equivalent combination of education and experience
- Excellent communication, planning, facilitation, problem solving and writing abiltiies.
- Valid First Aid Certification.

**Salary**: From $25.05 per hour
