Seniors, Community and Social Services provides supports for seniors, families and communities, and helps Albertans access disability services, financial supports, services for the homeless, and other social-based programs. This ministry supports Albertans through a person-centered, integrated service delivery model that recognizes the unique circumstances, experiences and strengths of individuals and families. The ministry also provides oversight for the Office of the Public Guardian and Trustee.

The staff members of the Office of the Public Guardian and Trustee are committed to the provision of high quality services to Albertans. Activities performed enable the Office of the Public Guardian and Trustee to provide services, tools and supports for personal and financial matters to vulnerable Albertans and their families.

**Role**:
The Office of the Public Guardian and Trustee Branch, located in downtown Edmonton has a temporary opportunity for an individual to join our Financial Services Team. If you are up for a challenge and have strong analytical and organizational skills, this job may be for you.

The Financial Services Specialist is responsible for the daily review and verification of a wide range of accounting entries ensuring that actions and decisions are made within policies and guidelines. You will acquire knowledge in all positions in Financial, as well as play a key part in training new employees.

Working with the Financial Services Supervisor, you will develop new processes and procedures to improve efficiency and maximize financial controls. You will provide business expertise and advise staff in areas of financial controls as well as perform verification reviews, payment processing, and calculations.

As a Financial Services Specialist, you must:

- Prioritize and manage multiple projects
- Achieve goals, deliver results, and meet deadlines
- Use analytical thinking and creative problem-solving technique
- Have excellent communication skills
- Exercise professional judgment in decision making
- Be able to work independently and work well within a team
- Have advanced skills in MS Word, Excel, and Outlook

**Qualifications**:
**Required**:

- Two-year diploma in a related field plus 2 years related experience; or equivalent as described below.
- Proficiency with MS Word, Excel, and Outlook

**Equivalency**: Directly related education considered on the basis of 1 year of education for 1 year of experience

**Assets**:

- Experience performing financial calculations and accounting entries is an asset.
- Experience in a banking environment.

**Salary**:
$29.42 to $38.25 per hour
