**Position Overview**

Reporting to the Maintenance Manager, the Maintenance Helper will be responsible for assisting with inventory, basic repairs and performing basic maintenance in a number of areas including plumbing, electrical, carpentry, cleaning, painting, lawn and grounds upkeep and other areas as assigned.

**Key Responsibilities**

Assist Maintenance Person in performing basic maintenance including:

- Plumbing: un-clog sinks, toilets, showers and tubs; repair/replace toilets, faucets
- Electrical: repair/replace broken switches/plugs/fuses, replace smoke detectors
- Carpentry: repair/replace damaged wood trim, make doors/windows operable, repair/replace door/window hardware
- Painting
- Telephone
- Drywall
- Unit turnaround overflow
- Maintain the grounds of the facility (garbage clean-up, grass cutting, weed control, watering landscape, snow removal, salting, washing the exterior and interior windows and screens
- Operate safely all facility equipment (snow blower, weed trimmer, leaf blower, pressure washer, carpet and upholstery shampoo machine etc.
- Vacuuming laundry rooms and dryer filters, elevator tracks and exterior dryer vents.
- Responsible to shampoo carpets and upholstered furniture.
- Assist in the coordination, prioritization and completion of work orders.
- Perform assigned duties promptly and accurately.
- Maintain a safe, secure and healthy work environment by following and enforcing standards and procedures and complying with safety regulations.
- Assist with additional tasks as and when needed or assigned by management both within and outside role and department to support Larga operations

**Minimum Qualifications**
- Previous residential building maintenance experience
- Minimum one (1) year customer service experience
- Must posses or be willing to obtain a working at heights certificate.

**Skills and Abilities**
- Physical ability to lift, push, pull and move equipment up to 75 lbs
- Ability to perform repetitive physical tasks
- Strong communication skills
- Ability to remain alert and maintain a high level of concentration
- Ability to work independently
- Good judgement
- Good time management skills
- Ability to assess and prioritize work requests

**Preferred Qualifications**
- Inuktitut a strong asset
- First Aid / CPR/ AED trained (or a willingness to learn)
- Workplace Hazardous Materials Information System (WHMIS) training (or a willingness to learn)
