**Shift Work Required**: Yes, evenings and weekends are required
**Range of Pay**: Group 9 - $27.90 to $33.01 per hour

**The start date will follow the selection process.**

This position is not eligible to work remotely.

**Characteristic Duties**: Under the general supervision of the Manager of Libraries and Heritage Resources and the day-to-day direction of the Co-ordinator of Public Services.

1. Provide reader’s advisory service and respond to reference and research questions in person, by telephone or electronically using a range of resources in a variety of formats.
2. Assist patrons in the use of library resources, information technology and other equipment (e.g. 3D printer, vinyl cutter).
3. Assist patrons with holds, renewals of material and other circulation duties, as needed.
4. Resolve complaints from the general public within pre-set parameters.
5. Assist in the development and maintenance of library collections.
6. Provide content for print and on-line publications. Create search tools and compile indexes.
7. Assist with the delivery of basic training to staff in the use of electronic products and reference materials.
8. Promote and display materials, services and programs to stimulate library usage.
9. Track usage of library materials to assist in the collection development process.
10. Secure premises and set security system alarm.
11. Develop and maintain a thorough working knowledge of CGS's Safety Manual and the applicable Provincial Legislation listed therein.
12. Perform other related duties as required.

**Qualifications**:

- Successful completion of a Community College Library Technician’s Diploma.
- One (1) year up to and including two and one-half (2½) years of related experience.
- Ability to use computer hardware and software, and a wide range of library and Makerspace technology equipment (including library automation software).
- Excellent research and analytical skills.
- Ability to demonstrate the use of good judgement and other interpersonal skills in interactions with the public.
- Demonstrate the ability to balance multiple tasks with frequent interruptions and to work effectively with mínimal supervision.
- Ability to demonstrate public speaking skills.
- Ability to demonstrate organizational skills and attention to detailed work.
- Ability to promote teamwork and work cohesively within a team-oriented environment.
- Excellent use of English; verbally and in writing.
- French verbal and written skills an asset.
- Satisfactory health, attendance and former employment history.
- Physical capability to operate a vehicle safely, possession of a valid driver’s licence and an acceptable driving record, will be considered an asset.
