Head of Programs Underwriting

The Position:
Job Responsibilities:

- Account review and approval according to our underwriting philosophy, strategy and individual authority
- Lead underwriting strategy and drive team performance toward achievement of key performance metrics
- Underwrite and price products, to include internal control and exposure analysis
- Attendance at meetings with outside MGA and Broker/Producer management teams
- Collaborate with Program Management Team to deliver presentations to partners on book performance and recommend profitability enhancements, language revisions or changes to underwriting approach
- Policy contract review, rating updates, language review, anniversary memo creation and delivery
- Claims review and collaboration with the Claims team
- Service brokers, MGAs and customers in delivering on both Arch and partner priorities
- Manage, train and develop direct reports

Required Skills/Experience:

- Exemplary oral and written communication skills
- Analytical, with a keen ability to think through complex issues
- Solid understanding of programs underwriting, the P&C business, reinsurance and policy language
- Strong customer-service focus
- Able to organize and prioritize to meet multiple demands and commitments
- Strong work ethic
- Team player
- Effective negotiation skills
- Proficient in MS Word, Excel and Outlook
- Must have 8+ years of P&C insurance underwriting or broking experience
- Prior people management and team development a plus

- Bachelor’s Degree
