Certified Crane Operator / Equipment Operator with Class 3 Drivers Licence

JOB OVERVIEW (needs to be no more than 2 very engaging sentences)

Reporting to the Maintenance Craft Team Leader, the Mobile Crane Operator is critical in maintaining the reliability of the refinery’s production capabilities. This safety conscious individual will operate, service and repair a variety of plant mechanical equipment and will participate and assist in establishing an environment which reflects craft flexibility and teamwork.

KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES (must be in bullet forms and must start with an action word/verb)
- Operate and maintain mobile hydraulic cranes of various sizes
- Operate and maintain utility equipment (fuel, vacuum, sand trucks and loader)
- Maintain equipment histories and perform daily check lists
- Assess the type of equipment required to perform activities
- Work effectively in a team environment to assist multiple trade groups
- Active participant in all safety initiatives and programs
- Responsible for maintaining and enhancing skills as well as sharing knowledge with others

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS

Individuals.

Education and Experience: (must indicate education requirements/certifications and minimum years of experience required/preferred)
- Must possess a high school diploma or GED
- Must be a Journeyman Mobile Crane Operator certified in the province of Alberta or an Interprovincial Red Seal.
- Must possess a class 3 (minimum) license
- Versatility to operate both hydraulic cranes and utility equipment proficiently
- Refinery maintenance experience

Skills and Knowledge:

- Full knowledge of proper operation of hydraulic cranes
- A safety conscious individual who understands, appreciates, and demonstrates safe work practices and a commitment to Zero Harm
- Strong knowledge of lift chart reading and interpretation
- Strong analytical/troubleshooting/decision making skills.
- A level of computer literacy with knowledge of SAP an asset.
- Planning/estimating the execution of work activities
- Knowledge of W.H.M.I.S. and OH&S regulations.
- Ability to work and communicate in a team environment - good interpersonal skills
- Knowledge of Critical Lift execution
- Automotive and equipment mechanical repair skills are an asset

WORKING CONDITIONS
- Employees must be able to perform work in a variety of different environments both indoor and outdoor as well as within confined spaces(rarely) and must be comfortable using a self-contained breathing apparatus if the need arises.
