We are hiring a Vice President, Third Party Residential Underwriting

**Reporting To**: Executive Vice President, Residential Mortgages

**Full-Time/Part

**Overview**:
The Third Party Residential Underwriting Division, as a Division of First National Financial provides underwriting expertise and services on behalf of other financial institutions to the Canadian Mortgage Broker channel.

**Primary Duties and Responsibilities**:

- Establishes and maintains positive relationships with various senior stakeholders of other financial institutions
- Maintains positive relationships with external partners such as mortgage brokers, insurers, appraisers, title insurance companies, and solicitors
- Reviews internal and external audit results to ensure established guidelines and procedures are properly adhered to
- Reviews and monitors internal quality assurance and management reports
- Analyzes credit and property risk and provides lending decisions, where required for high lending amounts
- Partners with stakeholders in the development and revision of policies and guidelines
- Communicates policy changes and updates
- Communicates rate changes
- Establishes and implements short and long term goals for the Division
- Manages and resolves escalations from the Regional Assistant Vice Presidents
- Stays current with latest industry knowledge, competition, and market trends
- Participates in project meetings and the negotiation of contracts and service level agreements with key third party stakeholders
- Prepares and facilitates formal presentations, when required
- Provides oversight and input to overall resources management, including hiring, training, performance management and compensation
- Facilitates regular management team meetings to provide updates on results, changes, and to division goals and objectives
- Conducts annual performance reviews
- Adheres to policies/procedures to ensure AML requirements are met, when applicable

**Internal**: Interdepartmental team members to ensure a fluid and transparent First National customer experience and efficient execution of our third party agreements

**Education/Certification/Experience Requirements**:

- Completed minimum bachelor’s degree in business administration, Commerce or related required
- 10 or more years previous residential mortgage underwriting experience required
- 5 or more years people management experience with experience in leading an experienced management team required
- Completion of applicable provincial mortgage licensing requirement (i.e. FSRA (Ontario), BC FSA (BC) etc.) an asset
- Working knowledge of PC software in a Windows environment required

- Periods of high volume with tight timelines
- Long periods of stationary position/sitting
- Prolonged periods of repetitive movement (i.e. using a keyboard and mouse)
- Long periods of time in viewing a computer screen
- Requirement to travel on an at least quarterly basis to regional offices
- Requirement to attend broker and industry events outside of regular business hours
