Position Summary

The Specialist, Member Relations is responsible for managing and engaging Tourism Whistler’s membership. The Specialist, Member Relations advocates for Tourism Whistler to build Member understanding and support for the organization’s purpose and initiatives, while consistently relaying the benefits of membership and representing Member interests in Tourism Whistler’s strategic planning.

Key Responsibilities
- Act as a Tourism Whistler ambassador, living our purpose and vision with passion & energy, achievement and respect
- Maintain Tourism Whistler’s member database, including member contact and business information, and provide updated information to other departments when requested
- Increase the awareness and usage of all member tools and resources (e.g. member website, member newsletters, research & resort performance metrics, marketing assets and programs, etc.)
- Plan, schedule, coordinate and lead member meetings, including: Member Check-Ins, Seasonal Launch Meetings, Member Orientation Sessions, Pitch Sessions, and support the execution of Tourism Whistler’s Annual General Meeting
- Maintain Tourism Whistler’s Commercial Tenant membership program, including onboarding and offboarding Commercial Tenant Members
- Monitor, respond to, and track all member issues
- Help to administer the Annual Member Survey
- Represent Tourism Whistler at community events and sector association meetings
- Organize and coordinate the Whistler Inside Scoop Trade Show
- Manage the Member Communications inbox
- Assist with member communications efforts as required (website updates, newsletter distribution, etc.)

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities
- Extensive knowledge of Whistler and the resort’s business community
- Post-secondary education in public relations, marketing or a related discipline an asset
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Strong customer service focus, interpersonal and organizational abilities, with a proven ability to build relationships and collaborate with partners
- Highly self-motivated, with an ability to work independently and to make decisions as required
- Strong problem solving and analytical skills
- Customer Relationship Management (CRM) experience and HTML skills an advantage
- Previous experience in developing business plans and managing budgets an asset
- Previous experience in a member-based organization, with a strong understanding of administering bylaws and policies also an asset
