**Job Introduction**:
**Major Responsibilities**:
- Contribute to and engage in a working environment aimed at partnering with the product groups and divisions to leverage the process innovations to the targeted scale.
- Contribute relevant analytical findings to the technical discussion with the product groups to prepare the process for total cost reduction, as it pertains to Factory of the Future.
- Support the ideation process from a data perspective to identify gaps and opportunities in manufacturing processes, building blocks, and technologies to develop economical and scalable solutions.
- Deploy machine learning methods to simplify / substitute repeating tasks.
- Develop proof of concepts (POC) based on AI methods for closed loop control in production (e.g. Vision-based decision making, reinforcement learning approaches for controls, etc.).
- Interpret results and communicate to technical and non-technical audiences, cross-functional teams, and executive leadership.
- Support, plan, and execute ML and AI initiatives. Manage and facilitate initial small-scale implementation. Support broad deployment and adoption within the organization.
- Develop, maintain, and document the source code for all developments.
- Leverage internal and external expertise as required.
- Regularly interface with senior management to provide project updates.
- Occasionally responsible to hire, lead, supervise, and evaluate indirect hires, such as summer students.
**Knowledge and Education**:
- Master’s Degree in Mathematics, Statistics, Computer Science, Physics, or a closely related education with 2+ years of experience in industry.
- PhD preferred.
- Excellent mathematical knowledge in the field of statistics.
- Deep knowledge of Python and data analysis relevant libraries.
- SW development knowledge with detailed understanding of SW deployment processes is desired.
- Knowledge of network technologies and protocols (e.g. MQTT).
**Work Experience**:
- Demonstrated experience with a wide variety of ML and AI techniques and algorithms.
- Demonstrated experience with Python, SQL, and other related tools and toolchains to be able to oversee, direct, and manage projects in the field.
- Experience with virtualization (e.g. PowerBI, Grafana) and deployment tools (e.g. Docker).
- Experience with manufacturing related data analytics is preferred.
**Skills and Competencies**:
- Very good knowledge of English language is required, knowledge of German language is advantageous.
- Open mindset and eager to learn.

- Willingness to ask questions and build networks/relationships with other departments/groups.
**Work Environment**:
- While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk and hear, and use hands to finger, handle, and feel. The employee is required to reach with hands and arms and have adequate mobility to stand, walk, sit, stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to fifty (50) pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision and ability to adjust focus.
- Responsible for working in compliance with the provisions of the Health and Safety Act, as well as any rules or standards otherwise specified by OSHA, MIOSHA, or any other government regulations. Expected to exercise caution in all work activities and report any unsafe conditions, injuries, or near misses to the appropriate supervisor.
- Travel up to 25% - domestic and international may be required.
