The Maintenance Supervisor position is responsible for assisting in the oversight and maintenance of the facilities and properties in the areas such as Mechanical Systems, General Maintenance and Grounds upkeep. This incumbent will perform ongoing maintenance, janitorial, repairs and miscellaneous related duties for the Ontario Camping Ministries.

**KEY RESPONSIBILITIES**:
**Role Specific Responsibilities**
- Assists in developing and implementing operational plans for maintenance, including benchmarks for services and preventative scheduling for the structures & mechanical systems.
- Ensures a professional level maintenance of all property and equipment, adhering to requirements of Territorial Headquarters and relevant government standards.
- Meets regularly with the Camp Executive Director to inform, plan, and discuss issues pertaining to the maintenance of all facilities.
- Works with Camp Executive Director to secure contracts for projects including quote submission and approvals.
- Maintains a list of qualified contractors for trades and services.
- Ensures contractors provide required proof of insurance and WSIB.
- Communicates regularly with contractors and suppliers to ensure projects are completed on time and on budget and contractor invoices are submitted for timely payment.
- Under the direction of the Camp Executive Director, carries out general maintenance of the property.
- Undertakes minor renovation projects, including dry walling, carpentry, minor electrical repairs, painting, and plumbing.
- Follows preventative maintenance plans (daily, weekly, and monthly) as directed by the supervisor and keep accurate and up-to-date maintenance records.
- In the absence of the supervisor, connects with contractors, who have been scheduled to provide service, while on property.
- Identifies/reports to supervisor any repairs that may require an external service provider.
- Checks doors and windows to ensure building security.
- Receives delivery of major goods as required.
- Provides janitorial services for the administration building including weekly office cleaning.
- Restocks washroom supplies and distributes received material as required.

**Supervision**
- Demonstrates work methods and checks results of the work performed by the maintenance workers.
- Aides in fulfilling mission objectives by supervising team members and organizing and monitoring work processes.
- Aides team members by coaching, counseling, and coordinating schedules.

**Health** and Safety**
- Work in compliance with OH&S Act and Regulations and abide by The Salvation Army’s health and safety policies and procedures.
- Responsible for the following, work in compliance with the Ontario Health & Safety Act and Regulations, use personal prescribed safety equipment and clothing as directed by the employer, report workplace hazards, dangers, injuries or illness, work in a manner as required by the employer, and report workplace injuries or illness.
- Monitor and report regularly any concern regarding adherence to the acceptable health standards and that physical property is maintained, arranging for repairs as necessary.

Perform other related duties as required.

**WORKING CONDITIONS**:

- This is permanent full-time position based on 40 hours per week with an unpaid 30 min meal break.
- Schedule may vary according to requirements of responsibilities - some weekend and evening work may be required.
- The incumbent’s work environment is typically in all entire facility and designated properties.
- The performance of the job requires operating industrial cleaning equipment and tools, frequent twisting, bending, crouching, and reaching are required occasional ladder work and fine motor skills; and the ability to lift/move up to 50 pounds as required.
- Travel required up to 30-40% of time between campuses, to purchase required stuff, etc.

**Normal hours of work** - Hours of work and work schedule will be determined in consultation with the supervisor. Shifts could include days, evenings and afternoons, weekdays, and weekends.

**QUALIFICATIONS AND EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS**:

- Completion of Secondary School Diploma or College Diploma (2-3 academic years) or equivalent
- Post-secondary education or training in building, property, or trades management will be considered as an asset.
- Ability and willingness to provide a current Certification in Standard First Aid/CPR and Non-violent crisis intervention training.
- Alternative combinations of education and experience may be considered.

**EXPERIENCE AND KNOWLEDGE**:

- A minimum of three (3) year of prior related experience various fields of maintenance and housekeeping including supervisory experience in building and/or property management.
- Working knowledge of building codes and regulations, occupational health and safety standards, electrical systems and fire and emergency procedures
