The Head Baker is responsible for ensuring the smooth operation of the bakery kitchen and store front. It is the responsibility of the Head Baker to ensure high food quality standards are met. They must have extensive knowledge in a wide variety of scratch baking products to effectively train, identify and solve issues with products. They are responsible for coordination of the baking shifts and distribution of work in the kitchen to ensure that everyone is performing their duties efficiently and effectively. They are responsible in conjunction with the Chef to ensure that all ingredients and equipment are available and in good working order. They are responsible for the organization and cleaning standards in the kitchen and maintenance of equipment. The Head Baker will be responsible for costing of products, creating new menus and seasonal specialties. Ensure proper rotation and FIFO in kitchen as well as the store front.

The Head Baker is the leader of the bakery and they must foster a kind, inclusive environment where all staff feel comfortable coming to work.

They are responsible for the health and well-being of staff working in the kitchen and out front, as well as ensuring proper training.

The position requires the ability to work a flexible schedule as well as over the weekend.

**Key Accountabilities**:

- Foster an inclusive and positive atmosphere for all staff.
- Regularly reviewing and implementing processes to constantly improve the efficiency in the kitchen.
- Attract, Recruit, Train and Retain staff.
- Direct, Supervise, and Communicate with Kitchen Staff.
- Communicate with Store Front Manager on products, ingredients and par levels.
- Develop menus in conjunction with department supervisors that is consistent with the concept and vision of business.
- Coordinate ordering/inventory of kitchen.
- Controlling costing of products and menus.
- Short and long term planning of products and staffing.
- Comply and promote health and safety regulations.
- Maintain labour targets and scheduling.
- Ensure staff are recognized and adequately rewarded for performances.

**Salary**: $25.00-$29.00 per hour
