**Health, Safety and Environmental Specialist**

**About the Position**

**Duties and Responsibilities**
- Constantly striving to achieve the goal of "Zero is possible" through employee engagement, leading by example, and thinking about innovation
- Participate in accident and incident investigations and follow up on corrective actions resulting from these investigations
- Championing near-miss reporting
- Have a working knowledge of provincial and federal laws
- Have a strong foundation in joint health and safety committees
- Provide mandatory training to all managers, co-workers and contractors on how to implement these programs
- Ensure that the site always complies with all regulations, policies and guidelines of ADM, the CNESST, and the provincial and federal governments
- Develop, implement and maintain programs, records and reports related to health and safety, as well as compliance with laws and the environment
- Communicate with management on a daily basis on issues related to facility safety, food safety and environment
- Oversee audits of clients, third parties and regulators in their respective areas of responsibility
- Be accountable in ensuring that the institution achieves passing marks by maintaining consistent accessibility to the audit
- Ensure that corrective action plans are implemented to address any deficiencies identified during an audit in a timely manner

**Required Skills and Qualifications**
- Must have an excellent command of the following skills: computer, communication, problem-solving, and leadership, as well as the ability to work as part of a high-performing team
- This position requires the ability to walk, climb ladders, use tools, work in confined spaces and in extreme temperatures
- Be able to work in an office and industrial environment for extended periods of time
- Communicate file status updates and suggestions for improvement
- Ensure a safe and productive work environment
- Follow the instructions on the first try

**Education or Work Experience**
- Diploma or certificate in occupational health and safety issued by an accredited institution
- Certified training in First Aid, CPR and AED
- Minimum work experience in a dedicated health and safety position, with knowledge of the industrial environment and regulatory compliance
- Certification from the Canadian Council of Registered Safety Professionals (BCRSP) or Certified Safety Technician in Canada, or willingness to do so, is an asset

- Understand security and EHS requirements and be accountable for their full compliance
- Ensure that unsafe working conditions are corrected
- Commit to achieving the WMD goal of a zero-harm culture; Understand and follow the company's security procedures
