Tutor
35 hours per week - July 8 - July 26, 2024 (plus 2 Mandatory Training Days on July 3 and July 4)
$18.00/hour
Position Summary
Each summer, the Limestone District School Board offers a three week summer literacy program for students in Grades SK to 5. Students have an opportunity to further develop their literacy skills in a classroom setting under the direction of an instructor and with the support of a tutor. The 2024 Read-A-Lot Summer Literacy Program will be offered July 8 to 26, 2024. Mandatory training will take place July 3 and 4, 2024.
Duties of the tutor include
Providing literacy support under the direction of the Instructor, Site Manager and Mentor Instructor
Leading small group literacy instruction
Planning and leading the Daily Physical Activity sessions
Planning and leading whole class read alouds and literacy activities
Assisting with the set-up and take-down of classrooms at school sites
Participating in all training sessions
Knowledge and Experience
We are looking for applicants who:
show initiative
are currently enrolled in post-secondary studies and are considering an education-related career
have experience working with students in small groups to close gaps in literacy
can provide their own transportation to assigned school (mileage not covered by LDSB)
