Fibercon, the third member of the Group, specializes in fiber network installation and designing new technologies.

**Position: Health, Safety & Training Coordinator**

**Scope of Work**:
This position protects Company workers and the public-at-large by inspecting, investigating, reviewing and assessing project sites, operations, accidental losses and procedures to ensure compliance and legal requirements with current Safety Program, Environmental, and Occupational Health & Safety laws and regulations. Planning, organizing, and implementing Con-Elco Group of Companies’ Safety, Environmental and Training programs.

Maintain COR program for 3 companies within the group

**Skills**:
Strong Computer proficiency

Excellent meeting/training facilitation, communication and English written skills.

Intermediate Knowledge of Microsoft Word, Excel and Powerpoint

Aptitude for work in the Construction industry

**Education and Experience**:

- Diploma or Bachelor’s degree in occupational health and Safety
- Previous Experience In COR Program Submissions
- COR Internal Auditor Certification
- Minimum 2 years' experience in a similar role within a construction company in Canada
- Knowledge of the Ontario Occupational Health and Safety Act and Regulation for Construction Projects, Industrial Establishments, and WHMIS 2015 Regulation, Workplace Safety and Insurance Act.
- Valid driver’s license with good driving record and the ability to drive to job sites.
- Maintain the company COR program
- Review existing and develop new safety policies and programs, including, training, processes and procedures.
- Conduct training and presentation for health and safety matters and accident prevention.
- Monitor compliance of Company safety policies, Ministry of Labour, TSSA, and customer’s safety policies. (i.e. builders, Enbridge, electrical utilities, and others that we are contracted to).
- Coordinate, implement and manage ongoing safety and training programs to meet the Ontario Ministry of Labour requirements.
- Inspect equipment and machinery to observe proper operation by operators.
- Assist field in resolving equipment and machinery defects by consulting with fleet manager.
- Recommend solutions to issues and improvement opportunities to provide safe working conditions for all workers, sub-contractors, and visitors.
- Enforce all established safety regulations and safe work practices.
- Conduct safety inspections of job sites for recognition and corrective action.
- Investigate Utility damage at constructions sites.
- Correct physical conditions, which are liable to cause or have caused an accident.
- Recommend disciplinary action when necessary and writing of disciplinary letters on behalf of other foremen or supervisor
- Represent Con-Elco Group of Companies in the Utility Contractor Association of Ontario Safety and Training Committee.
- Coordinate the Early Safe Return Program with modified work for those employees that have sustained injury or illness with rehabilitation to safely return to their pre
- injury job.

**Working hours**:

- Typical office hours: Monday to Friday - 7:00 am - 5:00 pm (one hour provided for lunch); additional hours may be required.
- Requires significant amount of driving - a company vehicle is provided at company yard for all official duties. Moderate physical effort. Moderate number of non-standard hours of work required. Moderate exposure to varied weather condition
