Youth Worker
- Summer Daycamp

Marpole Neighbourhood House (MNH) is currently seeking an experienced, enthusiastic, responsible and energetic individual who is passionate about providing engaging activities for youth aged 13-18yrs.
- Empower and actively engage youth in community building and leadership development.
- Supervise, orient, and motivate youth participants and volunteers.
- Mediate, counsel, and act as a role model for participants/volunteers.
- Ensure programs are inclusive and based on the interests of the children and youth.
- Builds and maintains collaborative relationships with other community service providers.

Skills and Qualifications:

- This position is funded by the Canada Summer Jobs and to be eligible, youth must be:

- between 16 to 30 years of age at the start of the employment;
- a Canadian citizen, permanent resident, or person to whom refugee protection has been conferred under the Immigration and Refugee Protection Act for the duration of the employment*; and,
- have a valid Social Insurance Number at the start of employment and be legally entitled to work in Canada in accordance with relevant provincial or territorial legislation and regulations.
- Education in recreation, kinesiology or related field an asset
- Relevant experience volunteering or working with youth
- Ability to work in a multi-cultural setting
- Ability to work as part of a team
- First Aid and Food Safe certified are strong assets
- Strong verbal and written communication skills
- copy of current immunization record & clear criminal record check upon hire required
- Enjoys working with a culturally diverse and inclusive setting

Employment Terms:

- Monday to Friday, 7 hours per day & 35 hours per week
- Start Date: July 8, 2024
- End Date: August 30, 2024
- Salary: $19.72 plus 4% in lieu benefits

**Job Types**: Full-time, Fixed term contract
Contract length: 8 weeks

Pay: $19.72 per hour

Expected hours: 35 per week

Schedule:

- Monday to Friday

Work Location: In person

Expected start date: 2024-07-08
