DESCRIPTION
As the local leader of People & Culture for the Canadian Team, you’re building, developing, and retaining high-performing teams who deliver on our mission and values. A proven leader with a track record across people functions and culture-building.
This is a full-time salaried in-office position, located in the Mile-End district of Montreal, reporting directly to the Chief Financial Officer and managing our Office Administration staff.
**WHAT YOU'LL DO**:
- Developing and implementing HR policies for Montreal office that are consistent with Circle Medical’s US entities, company philosophy, culture, mission and values for successful business strategy.
- Ensuring compliance with all relevant laws and regulations related to employment and HR practices in Quebec, managing local employment-related agencies communications and providing required translation where needed.
- Employee Lifecycle Management - Responsible for recruitment, onboarding, employment eligibility and verification, payroll, training, performance management, terminations, leave management and employee relations for our Canadian team.
- Developing and managing the organization’s compensation and benefits programs to attract and retain top talent. In partnership with our US Director to ensure Circle Medical’s compensation philosophy, culture, mission, values and benefits are equitable and consistent across all US and Canadian entities.
- Providing guidance and support to Leadership and managers on HR related issues including performance management, disciplinary actions and employee relations.
- Collaborating with key stakeholders to develop and implement talent management strategies that align with the company’s overall business goals, values and mission.
- Overseeing and administration of payroll and employee benefits programs, including health insurance, retirement plans and other benefits.
- Manage office administration staff, culture engagement activities and additional People & Culture hires as the company grows locally.
- Partnership with Finance to ensure all local HR budgets are managed and met and provide additional budget planning preparation for the future and to effectively manage People & Culture resources.
- Fluently bilingual ( English/French), proficient in verbal and written communications in both languages, and able to translate all employment documents for required bilingual communications.

- A strong understanding of relevant HR legislation, federal and local employment laws and workplace best practices to understand and navigate the right priorities for our growth stage.
- 5+ years’ experience in HR including time in relevant comparable roles of an HRBP, Senior Manager, Head of or Director of People, specifically within policy development and people management and compliance.
**WHAT WILL GIVE YOU AN EDGE**:
- Proven track record with other startups or VC funded companies
- Understanding of relevant HR legislation, federal and local employment laws and workplace best practices in Quebec, Canada
- Experience with a large non-exempt hourly workforce
- Human Resources Professional Certification (e.g., CRHA)
- Experience with Lattice, Slack, Rippling, Notion, Lever, and Google Suite
