**Building Operations Manager**
**Location**: 11738 Kingsway NW, Edmonton, AB
**Position Status**: Full Time (40 hours/week), Permanent
**Key Responsibilities**
- Oversee and provide direction to the Building Operations team, ensuring projects are delivered according to projected timelines and adhere to best practices.
- Manage and maintain all Otipemisiwak Métis Government buildings in alignment with organizational goals, objectives, and budgetary constraints.
- Oversee routine and preventative maintenance of buildings, including HVAC systems, furnaces, boilers, plumbing, electrical, and other systems.
- Plan, coordinate, and implement various Building Operations programs and projects, including maintenance/renovation projects, in collaboration with the Facilities Manager, as required.
- Identify and implement strategies to improve building operations and energy efficiencies where applicable.
- Assist with optimizing operational costs through efficient resource allocation and cost-saving initiatives to ensure adherence to budget.
- Establish and enforce maintenance standards and protocols to ensure consistency and quality.
- Ensure adherence to all relevant building codes, regulations, and safety standards.
- Conduct daily Health and Safety meetings. Ensure compliance with delegated training.
- Collaborate with the Health and Safety Advisor to ensure that all buildings meet Health and Safety codes.
- Ensure property inspections are carried out on a routine basis and inspect building structures to determine the need for repairs and renovations, in collaboration with the Facilities Manager, as required.
- Ensure timely response to maintenance requests and effectively prioritize urgent repairs.
- Maintain detailed records and prepare regular reports on building operations and maintenance activities, providing recommendations for improvements.
- Manage and maintain maintenance inventory such as tools, equipment, machinery, etc.
- Manage company vehicles, including regular maintenance and reporting.
- Coordinate staff and external vendors, contractors, and subcontractors for the scheduling of renovations, maintenance, and repairs, including seasonal maintenance.
- Oversee relationships with vendors, contractors and subcontractors, including managing contracts and renewals and acting as a main contact regarding contracts, quotes, and invoices.
- Stay abreast on industry trends and best practices in facilities and project management.
- Ensure that safe work practices are being followed, and that employees adhere to all health and safety regulations.
- Collaborate with the Director of Facilities and Building Operations on creating and revising department policies, processes, and procedures.
- Provide effective leadership, and mentor team members through feedback, coaching, and formal evaluations.
- Manage staffing responsibilities and perform supervisory duties including hiring and training staff, assigning job duties, and developing and overseeing staff work plans.
- Maintain a high level of political awareness, cultural sensitivity, professionalism, and confidentiality in interactions with internal and external stakeholders.

- Exceptional project management and coordination skills with the ability to manage complex maintenance projects, including budgeting, scheduling, and resource allocation.
- Exceptional verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills, with an ability to produce professional documents, reports, and presentations.
