These options range from subsidized to luxury, Independent to Assisted Living, Long-term Care to Memory Care, and Residential Mental Health.
**Responsibilities**:
- Oversees procedures and processes and manages inquiries and requests related to preparation and distribution of payroll
- Review various calculations including, but not limited to, hiring & terminations, prorating salaries, labour costs, net and gross payments, deductions, benefits, and advances
- Create spreadsheets for reconciliations and reporting purposes.
- Maintain documentation, records, training manuals,
- Design, test, and implement new processes, requiring a thorough knowledge of the payroll processes and comprehension of departmental concerns.
- Backup for the Director of Payroll and Benefits
- Support/lead training of Payroll team members; including skill development
- Review configuration of the payroll and various modules in use
- Ensures that all payroll systems configurations are regularly updated, thoroughly tested, and compliant with multiple collective agreements and ESA (BC and AB)
- Create documentation on best practices and standard operating procedures.
- Assist/Facilitate all required internal and external reports as well as month-end reports.
- Monitor and control compliance with various laws, collective agreements, and administrative directives.
- Create reports and ensure accuracy of records
- Respond to all questions related to payroll and resolve issues with team
- Organize payroll systems and timekeeping
- Collaborate with various external and internal auditors and manage payroll tax audits
- Coach and supervise a team of 7 payroll specialists
- Other duties as assigned
**What you need to succeed**:
- Minimum of five (5) years of relevant work experience; PCP or CPM is required
- Knowledge of the complete payroll cycle (i.e. Schedule, Time & Attendance, Payroll, ROE).
- Knowledge of current Canadian Legislative requirements and CRA regulations.
- Good knowledge of provincial and federal payroll legislation.
- Significant experience with the management of collective agreements.
- Master the payroll software (Payworks, ComVida, Time & Attendance, Scheduling).
- Intermediate level in MS Excel.
- Excellent time management, organizational skills, and ability to work with tight deadlines.
- Ability to take initiatives and influence a healthy team culture
- Experience with group benefits, group RRSP and Pension
- Excellent written, verbal and social communication skills
- Sound understanding of best practices in payroll procedures and related laws
- Previous experience in handling confidential business matters and information with discretion
- 2+ years of proven leadership experience as a payroll supervisor or similar role
- Clear Criminal Record Check(CRC) working with vulnerable adults
- Covid-19 vaccination. This requirement will be waived if you did not receive the vaccination due to any legislation protected human rights grounds.
