**is recruiting for a**:
TOURISM ASSISTANT
(Part-Time; Saturday 7:00 a.m. - 3:00 p.m.)

**POSITION SYNOPSIS AND PURPOSE**:
Under the direct supervision of the Railway City Tourism Manager, this position assists with the setup, maintenance, and tear down of the Horton Farmers’ Market every Saturday. This position assists with operating the tourism office and developing and maintaining social media and tourism programs.

**MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES AND ACCOUNTABILITIES**:
Customer Service (75%)
- Interacts with the public regarding tourism related questions and inquiries.
- Attends events to promote St. Thomas, as required, including the Horton Farmers’ Market during Market season.

Program Support (25%)
- Responsible for updating the website and social media.
- Assists with marketing tourism initiatives.
- Assists with the development of tourism programs.
- Assists staff in the day-to-day operations of the tourism office.
- Performs other duties, responsibilities and functions as assigned.

**MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS**:

- Experience working with the public is an asset.
- Strong marketing, website and social media skills are required.
- Good organization skills and the ability to work unsupervised.
- Ability to demonstrate leadership, good communication, enthusiasm and a positive attitude.

**Additional Information**:
Satisfactory Police Record Check is required as a condition of employment.

**HOURS OF WORK**:
This position typically works Saturdays from 10am to 4pm, although the Horton Market sometimes dictates an earlier start to the day.

**Hourly Rate**: $17.11 - $18.86 per hour, plus 4% vacation pay.
