**Position Title: Annual Giving Officer**

**Division: Thunder Bay Regional Health Sciences Foundation**

**Date: August 2023**

**Purpose of Position**:
The Annual Giving Officer implements, administrates and evaluates all areas of the Annual Giving Program for the Thunder Bay Regional Health Sciences Foundation. This includes but not limited to; the direct mail program, employee giving, tribute giving, grateful patient and monthly donations.

**Responsibilities**:
Reporting directly to the President & CEO, the Annual Giving Officer is responsible for all areas of the Annual Giving program. The Annual Giving Officer is responsible for overseeing the creation, implementation, administration, monitoring, completion and evaluation of the annual giving program and/or events in support of the Foundation.

Other responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

- Responsible for the creation implementation, and evaluation of a strategic annual giving plan consistent with the mission and goals of the Foundation. This plan is to be as comprehensive as possible to ensure the Foundation is represented to Northwestern Ontario.
- Prepares and implements an annual department operational and work plan.
- Prepares and manages the annual giving budget.
- Develop strategies for identifying prospects and finding new ways to solicit donations.
- Works with new and existing donors while building relationships to educate regarding the Foundation, its activities, current and future investments.
- Creates and designs numerous direct mail appeals that are sent out to prospective loyal donors throughout the year.
- Develops, implements and evaluates strategies that focus on acquiring new donors, retaining current donors and upgrading current donation amounts.
- Participates and organizes committees and sub-committees such as the Employee Giving Committee and the Women-in-Action committee.
- Develops and facilitates the direct mail program and grateful patient programs. Creates mailing materials for solicitation packages for donors.
- Maintain donor database using prescribed, entering any information about a donor or prospective donor that may compliment other program areas of the Foundation.
- Provides a high level of project management skills

**Ideal Knowledge, Skills, Experience**
- The Annual Giving Officer will be an exceptional communicator - both written and oral. This position also demands knowledge of and sensitivity to a variety of populations and situations including patients and their families, donors and recognition programs. Superior interpersonal skills are imperative.
- Networking within the community is key to developing the relationship network of the Foundation. The Annual Giving Officer will be involved in many segments of the community to ensure the Foundation is represented and relationships are built appropriately.
- Handle multiple projects with competing timelines.
- Leadership, initiative, tact and attention to detail are required traits.
- Maintains a customer service focus in all interactions with Foundation constituencies including, but not limited to, donors, volunteers, board members, patients and Health Sciences Centre and Research Institute staff.
- Ability to provide appropriate stewardship and cultivation to various constituencies including but not limited to donors, volunteers and community members.
- A G-class driver’s license and access to a reliable vehicle is required.
- Flexibility in work hours and locations is essential to the success of this position.

**Qualifications**:
The Annual Giving Officer will have completed post-secondary education, preferably in one of the following areas
- Fundraising, Marketing, Business, Communications, Journalism, Public Relations
- Minimum of five (5) years’ experience in related field

Other Information:

- Full-time Salary Range: Salary commensurate with experience
- Work hours: 9AM - 5PM, Monday through Friday. Some after-hours required.
