Toronto-based Canadian Design and Manufacturer of Home Décor Products is looking for a resourceful and enthusiastic route sales/outside representative to join our sales department. You will be driving along a designated route in Saskatchewan to provide our customers with sales-related services, growing our customer base in the area, and providing the sales manager with sales target updates.
The Route Sales/Outside representative's responsibilities include submitting regular sales reports to management, informing potential and existing customers of product features and benefits, and resolving customer complaints. You should also be able to create as well as present persuasive sales proposals to customers to encourage sales and repeat business.
To be successful as an outside/route sales representative, you should be persuasive and have excellent negotiation skills. Ultimately, an exceptional outside sales representative should be able to demonstrate effective communication and customer service skills to continually meet or exceed sales targets. You should demonstrate a sound knowledge of sales strategies and sales experience in a similar industry. A top-notch route sales/outside representative will be someone whose expertise in building and maintaining customer relationships results in increased sales revenue.
**Route Sales Representative Responsibilities**:
- Developing a sales strategy, including cold calling, door-to-door selling, and product demonstrations.
- Driving along a designated route to sell products and calling on regular customers.
- Informing existing customers of upgrades to products, as well as introducing new product lines.
- Analyzing consumer behavior and collaborating with the sales department to remain competitive.
- Maintaining sales records and meeting sales targets, as well as presenting managers with regular updates.
- Liaising with other departments to ensure efficient customer services, as well as resolving complaints.
- Ensuring that promotional and demonstration materials are kept in mint condition.
- Identifying potential customers through networking and following leads.
- Arranging meetings with potential and existing customers to present company products.
- Persuading customers to purchase company products by highlighting product benefits and key features.
- Building and maintaining solid working relationships with both new and existing customers.
- Promptly submitting purchase orders to the relevant department for processing.
- Following up with customers to inquire into whether purchased products meet their expectations.
- Filling out the necessary paperwork and obtaining customers' signatures to complete each sale.
- Building and sustaining long-lasting relationships with new and existing customers based within an assigned sales territory.
- Traveling within an assigned sales territory to conduct face-to-face meetings with existing and potential customers.
- Developing and implementing an effective sales strategy to drive sales.
- Collaborating with the marketing department to expand brand presence through the creation of suitable marketing materials.
- Researching competitors' products and pricing as well as market conditions.
- Keeping abreast of the latest industry developments by attending meetings, training workshops, and industry events.
- Strategically negotiating with potential and existing customers to close sales.
**Route Sales Representative Requirements**:
- High school diploma or GED.
- An associate's or bachelor's degree in marketing would be advantageous.
- At least 2 years experience as a sales representative in a related industry preferred.
- Valid driver’s license and a clean driving record.
- Proficiency in sales software
- Superb interpersonal, negotiation, and communication skills.
- Exceptional organizational and time-management skills.
- Ability to collaborate with a variety of stakeholders.
- Working knowledge of basic vehicle maintenance.
