**Background**:
Netivot HaTorah (“Netivot”) is an Orthodox, co-educational pre-Nursery through Grade 8

Jewish day school that serves over 600 students in the Greater Toronto Jewish

community on two campuses.

and academic learning experiences we cultivate in our children connections between

Torah and everyday life, a love for and support of Medinat Yisrael, and their growth as

respectful individuals and positive contributors to Am Yisrael and society at large.

- Guide every child to create the vital habits of heart, mind and neshama (soul)

that make a fulfilling and meaningful Torah life.
- Recognize that each student is an individual, and seek to ignite their unique

potential.
- Nurture each student to be confident, and feel loved and respected.
- Help each student advance towards a mastery of Judaic and General studies

using a child-centered learning approach. We aim towards proficiency in Hebrew

language as the means to most fully access Jewish culture and texts.

Our vision is that each of our students is uniquely prepared and proud to live a life

guided by and committed to Torah values and Halacha, integrated with knowledge of

the sciences and humanities and a deep connection to Israel. This will enrich each

child, their home, and the world around them.

**The Position**:
Starting in July 2025, the Head of School will be a full-time permanent position based at the North Campus (18 Atkinson Ave, Thornhill, ON L4J 8C8). The Head of the School will be a dynamic, charismatic leader who will represent Netivot HaTorah to all internal and external stakeholders of the school and to the Greater Toronto Jewish community.

**The Head of School is the administrative and educational leader and spiritual role**

**model of our school, promoting the success and well-being of all students.**

**The Head of School**:

- Champions the school’s vision and advances the institution according to its

mission.
- Maintains and improves Netivot HaTorah’s pursuit of academic excellence.
- Communicates the school’s vision and strategic plan to all stakeholders together

with the Board of Directors.
- Is a key leader in the strategic planning process, implementation of goals and

evaluation of success.
- Will take a lead role in fundraising efforts in conjunction with the Development

Committee and the Board of Directors.
- Builds a culture of trust, respect and accountability together with the senior

administrative team.
- Sets and ensures that goals are met by all senior staff.
- Encourages and organizes professional development of staff and administrators.
- Represents, fosters and maintains relationships with Jewish Federation of

Toronto, local and international foundations and other funding agencies.
- Is the primary spokesperson for the school.
- Maintains and ensures school accreditation, compliance with government

regulations and standards, and the achievement of educational standards.
- Establishes enrollment goals and ensures these are met by actively managing

the recruitment and retention process.
- Establishes synergistic relationships between all offices (e.g., Marketing/

Admissions/ Development) to ensure greatest efficiency and effectiveness in

effort.

**Requirements**:

- Several years of experience as a senior teacher or department head
- Master’s degree in Education
- Teaching experience in the classroom
- Must be fluent in both English and Hebrew

**The Head of School is the sole employee of the Board of Directors and shall**:

- Be a member ex officio of all standing committees of the Board of Directors.
- Be the representative of the Board of Directors in its relations with the faculty,

staff, students and the patrons of the organization.
- Select and hire properly qualified persons to serve as members of the faculty and

administration.
- Determine goals of senior educational staff; have direct supervision of the faculty

and staff; and shall coordinate the activities of the entire organization.
- The Head of School shall hold regular meetings of the faculty and staff and see that the

general policies of the Board are understood and followed.

**General responsibilities of the Head of School include (but are not restricted to)**

**the following**:

- Manage the sometimes competing demands of the various constituencies of the

school.
- Work with the Board of Directors, its President, and its committees in carrying out

established school policies; to review those policies and make recommendations

for changes.
- Supervise all programs of the school (academic, ethical, athletic, and other

extracurricular programs); monitor curriculum, grading, testing, and reporting to

parents; prepare for and conduct periodic program evaluations; submit reports to

external agencies as required; establish disciplinary policies
