Position Summary
Under the direction of the Manager, Social Services & Early Years the Supervisor, Social Services & Homelessness Prevention oversees the delivery social assistance programs and homelessness prevention initiatives for the City of Kingston and County of Frontenac. This position is accountable for program development, project management initiatives, and/or the coordination of service delivery standards. The Supervisor provides leadership and guidance to a team, and is responsible for operational planning, project management and development, and implementation of specialized client services.

**KEY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES**:
Managing direct reports to accomplish departmental objectives by assigning work, setting schedules, resolving problems, reviewing audits, and identifying appropriate individual goals aligned with individual capabilities, work requirements, and organization’s vision and strategic plans.

Planning and coordinating program development and change management by meeting the needs of the local market and provincial legislative requirements, communicating with staff, and initiating training initiatives as necessary to align outcomes as initiated and visioned by governing provincial authorities.

Supporting clients when circumstances are complex, escalated and/or due to unique circumstances by ensuring provincial legislation and directives are aligned with decision making to support the unique goals of clients.

Developing and executing programming in line with, or in support of, community agencies and combined client needs and goals by seeking funding opportunities and aligning programming with these opportunities’ respective outcomes.

Participating in community engagement committees/events to network with partner agencies, streamline programs and resources, and ensure that local program delivery is meeting the needs of clients and community agencies alike. Ensuring that resources are utilised in the most productive and efficient manner.

Qualifications, Competencies
3-year degree/advanced diploma in Human Services or a related field.

3 - 5 years supervisory experience (preferably in a unionized environment) in social services.

Excellent verbal and written communication skills.

Demonstrated conflict management skills and methods to reduce tension or conflict between two or more individuals.

Knowledge of the Ontario Works Act and Regulations and Ontario Disability Support Program Act and Legislation.

Knowledge of the Housing Services Act and Housing First Model.

Intermediate proficiency skills in Microsoft Office and Social Assistance Management System (SAMS).

Must possess and maintain a valid class “G” driver’s licence with a satisfactory driver’s abstract.

Required to obtain and maintain a satisfactory criminal record check.
