**The opportunity**:
The University of Manitoba is looking for a Compensation Specialist. This position will be responsible for performing a variety of administrative activities and analysis to collaborate in the development, maintenance, and administration of the University of Manitoba’s compensation programs. The Compensation Specialist will also ensure established policies, procedures and collective agreements are adhered to and that requested salary adjustments are compliant with these articles.
**The qualifications and experience we’re looking for**:
- Bachelor of Commerce or related degree, preferably with a Human Resources major/specialty or a certificate in Human Resource Management required.
- Additional education specializing in compensation preferred.
- Certified Compensation Professional (CCP) preferred.
- Training in Hay Method of Job Evaluation is an asset.
- Minimum of three years of directly related classification experience is required.
- Minimum two years of directly related experience in compensation or related role in a large, dynamic organization is required.
- Experience with job classification systems required.
- Knowledge of HR principles and best practices in job analysis/evaluation required.
- Knowledge of research methods and data analysis techniques required.
- Knowledge of customer service principles required.
- An acceptable equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered.
- Excellent organizational, communication and interpersonal skills are required as well as a diplomatic yet assertive approach in dealing with all levels of staff.
- Attention to detail, strong technical, analytical, and problem-solving skills are required.
- Must possess a philosophy consistent with a collaborative, integrated approach to working in groups and integrated systems.
- Good decision-making skills required.
- Satisfactory work record, including satisfactory attendance and punctuality, is required.
