**ANALYST 1 - LEACHATE WORKSTATION**

**This is a Full-Time position with Medical Benefits and Retirement Savings Plan**

**an ANALYST 1, your responsibilities**

**are**:
Performs chemical analysis using a variety of laboratory instrumentation. Prepares samples for more complex analytical testing procedures. The analyst will be responsible to perform and distribute all leachate extractions as per the procedures detailed in the CGSB, TCLP, SPLP, and Zero Headspace SOPs. The analyst will also be responsible for performing aqueous leach extractions as per the procedure detailed in the SOP. Complete documentation of extraction, reagent, maintenance and verification logs is also a key responsibility.

**Key Accountability/Responsibilities**:

- Follow Standard Operating Procedures.
- Ensure raw data is appropriately labelled.
- Ensure analytical records and all required logs are properly completed, labelled and filed to ensure traceability.
- General housekeeping of laboratory and workstations.
- Prepare and clean glassware required for sample analysis.
- Operation of mechanical equipment (ie. Wiley Mill, Pulveriser, Chipmunk, Ball mill) for sample size reduction (prep crush methods).
- Prepare samples, sub-samples and reagents for leachate analysis. Ensure samples, extracts and standard solutions are properly labelled and stored in the appropriate location.
- Perform simple analysis, including operation of balances and meters.
- Maintain up to date maintenance records for instrumentation.
- Meet quality and turnaround time specifications required by the client and ensure samples are analysed within holding time requirements.
- Provide supervisor with updates on workstation status including advance notification of any delays.
- Maintain control charts as per QA manual requirements, monitor for failure to meet tolerances and consult with Supervisor regarding remedial action.
- Standard laboratory environment
- Other duties as required

Availability for shift work, OT and weekend work required

**You are an ideal ANALYST 1 if you have [Minimum Requirements]**:

- You have a Technical diploma required, B.Sc. preferred
- You have knowledge of standard operating procedures and instrumental techniques
