- Assist in growing and developing the rock band program

- Assist with basic administrative duties and lesson preparation alongside the Lesson Advisor team and the Director of Cosmo School of Music

**Scope of Responsibility**:
As a Rock Band Instructor at Cosmo School of Music, you are entrusted with the vital task of growing and shaping our rock band program. This broad scope encompasses a diverse set of responsibilities that extend beyond individual instrument instruction. Your role includes nurturing group dynamics, fostering an environment that encourages creativity and collaboration, and seamlessly integrating students of various skill levels into cohesive bands. You'll collaborate with the Lesson Advisor team and the Director of the Cosmo School of Music, assisting with administrative duties and lesson preparation to ensure a smooth and effective learning process. Additionally, you'll guide the bands throughout the year in creating captivating sets for their end-of-year performances. Your role is pivotal in shaping the musical journeys of our students, empowering them to express their individual and collective musical voices while laying a strong foundation for the continued growth of our rock band program.

**Key Deliverables**:

- **Program Development**: A significant deliverable would be the successful growth and development of the rock band program. This includes recruiting and organizing students into bands, designing curriculum, and continuously improving the quality of instruction to meet the diverse needs and interests of the students.
- **Student Performance**:Preparing students for end-of-year performances is another key deliverable. This includes guiding the bands to create captivating setlists, rehearsing with them consistently, and ensuring their performances are polished and reflect their growth as musicians over the year.
- **Comprehensive Group Education**: The implementation and delivery of a comprehensive group education program is a vital deliverable for this role. This includes creating an engaging and inclusive learning environment, fostering collaboration among band members, and providing lessons that cater to a variety of musical interests and skill levels. Success in this area would be marked by the overall musical progress of the bands, increased student engagement, and the development of a strong sense of camaraderie and teamwork among the students.

**Qualifications**:

- Bachelor’s degree in music, music education, or related field preferred.
- Proven experience in teaching music, with a focus on rock band instruction.
- Comprehensive knowledge of music theory and sight-reading.
- Ability to work with a diverse range of student experience levels, from beginners to advanced musicians.
- Experience in organizing and directing musical performances.
- Exceptional interpersonal skills, with a proven ability to inspire and motivate students.
- Experience in a collaborative environment, especially working with other music educators and administrators.
- Strong administrative skills, including lesson preparation and coordination with other team members.
- Flexibility to adapt teaching methods to individual students' needs and interests.
- Ontario Teaching Certificate is considered an asset
