Community Futures is a small, Squamish based non-profit that is focussed on Community Economic Development in the Sea to Sky. We aim to increase economic diversity and vibrancy in our communities. This is driven by small business advice, character-based lending and participation in community projects and initiatives alongside community partners. Each community within our region has completely unique strengths and needs do the approach to community economic development has to be flexible and versatile.

You will work with stakeholders as a resource in facilitating, promoting and encouraging community development projects. You will be responsible for developing and maintaining relationships with representatives of local, provincial and federal levels of government, community groups involved in development activities and non-profit organizations supporting community engagement and growth.

The work will be performed alongside the Executive Director to lead and contribute to CED activity in the Sea to Sky region, working towards the execution of the organization’s strategic plan and project-based activities with the goal of delivering the broadest possible impact.

The role will require a significant amount of autonomy in proactively seeking out areas of need and then providing resources and capacity to meet those needs.

This is a new role for the organisation so the first task will be to facilitate the development of a community economic development plan including vision, goals and objectives. Through this, we can identify opportunities for community economic development in order to develop sectors, projects, and initiatives.

**Project Management**
- Seek out funding opportunities and projects or initiatives which align with the organization’s strategic priorities, and which help meet community needs.
- Participate in grant proposals and project development.
- Develop project workplans, budgets, benchmarks and timelines.
- Participate in planning and development of community economic development initiatives.
- Coordinate conferences, trade shows, information fairs and promotional events.
- Coordinate a myriad of committee meetings, tracks actions and results.

**Research**
- Research and provide recommendations on community economic development opportunities.
- Evaluate results of economic development studies and agreements and make recommendations.
- Complete a wide-ranging research exercise for a myriad of projects including business plan development, economic development projects and industry reports.
- Engage in systematic primary and secondary data collection in a variety of methodologies including surveys, focus groups, literature and best practices information reviews.
- Analyze data analysis of quantitative and qualitative information.
- Develop economic profiles of the region and community.

**Communications**
- Develop a communications strategy.
- Present reports to management and Board of Directors on organizational aspects.
- Represent the organization with various community organizations and events.
- Act as a liaison between local organizations, businesses and individuals and representatives of government, business and industry concerning economic development.
- Participating in public presentations.
- Report to funders and stakeholders of organizational projects and programs.
- Develop community and regional networks.

**Business Development**
- Develop partnerships within the community to develop and promote opportunities.
- Assist local organizations, businesses and individuals to take advantage of economic development opportunities and major projects.
- Facilitate stakeholder groups.
- Develop business plans, marketing initiatives and market research reports.

**Internal organization development**
- Recommend strategy and develop operational plans to best position the organization for long term sustainability.
- Acts as a representative for the organization and in the absence of the General Manager.
- Develop policies and procedures.
- Develop an internal marketing strategy and work to deliver this.
- Coordinating and executing media relations and communications strategies.
- Perform other related duties as required.

**Job Types**: Part-time, Fixed term contract
Contract length: 12 months
Part-time hours: 32 per week

**Salary**: $27.00-$35.00 per hour
