**Job Description**:
**Role Summary**

To ensure the accurate and timely processing of payroll while providing effective administrative support to the Human Resources department. This includes managing payroll processes, maintaining compliance with relevant laws and regulations, and offering assistance to team members regarding HR-related matters. The Payroll & HR Administrator plays a crucial role in fostering a positive and efficient work environment by ensuring that payroll and HR functions are executed accurately and in accordance with established policies and legal requirements.

**Key Responsibilities**

**Payroll**
- Responsible for the accurate and timely processing of payroll for all employees across Canada
- Responsible for the calculation and remittance of various deductions, for all payroll groups
- Responsible for year-end filing and annual production of T4s and T4As
- Responsible for the maintenance of payroll records for internal and external requirements
- Responsible for payroll audits for internal and external auditors
- Responsible for identifying legal requirements and government reporting regulations affecting payroll functions and ensures policies, procedures and reporting are in compliance
- Responsible for identifying potential improvements in payroll and control processes, ensuring that identified opportunities are implemented successfully
- Ensures accurate and timely processing of new hires, terminations and increases
- Addresses or responds to inquiries from managers, team members, HR and finance regarding payroll within agreed turnaround time

**Benefits**
- Monthly reconciliation of benefit invoices
- Responsible for administration of benefits and remittance of premiums as well maintenance of benefit files for group employees
- Handles Group RRSP remittances, monthly enrolments, liaising with RSP provider, employee queries

**Reporting**
- Overall responsibility for timely remittance and reporting of statutory contributions in compliance with regulations and statutory requirements
- Maintain time-off balances including vacation, sick time, etc.
- Maintain headcount reporting
- Ad hoc reporting as required
- Responsible for compiling budgetary information during the annual planning cycle

**HR Duties**
- Successful and timely onboarding and offboarding of team members
- Compliance monitoring and updating
- Metric tracking and monitoring of various monthly reports
- Committee membership and support as required, ie Occupational Health & Safety Committee
- Backs up the HR Generalist as required
- Various projects and other duties as required

**Desirable Skills/Knowledge and Experience**
- Post-Secondary Certificate, Diploma or Degree in Accounting, HR, Business Management or related Program, and/or relevant combination of Education, Professional Experience and Training
- Certified Payroll Designation an asset
- Relevant and Dedicated Experience in BC and Ontario Payroll Processing and Benefits Administration, 3-5 years preferred minimum
- Proficiency in MS Office (Word/Excel) SharePoint, HRIS systems (WorkZoom an asset)
- Ability to maintain strict confidentiality
- Accuracy and attention to detail is critical
- Excellent organizational, prioritization and time management skills to deal with strict deadlines
- Ability to manage ambiguity
- Strong skills using and understanding the flow of transactions in an integrated and automated payroll system
- Experience with the WorkBC Contract and Policy Preferred
