**Position Profile**:
The Ontario Hospital Association (OHA) serves Ontario’s hospitals and is committed to building a better health system for patients and families. The OHA is seeking a Vice President of Policy and Advocacy responsible for leading a diverse team of high performing professionals who work to deliver on the OHA mandate of achieving a high performing health care system.

You have a proven ability to knit together analytics, health policy, legislative and regulatory analysis with strategic communication and government relations. You thrive in a fast-paced environment, and you have a strong sense of accountability for your work and the service that you and your team provide to your colleagues, the organization, members and partners.

**The Position**:
Reporting to the President and Chief Executive Officer, the Vice President is responsible for providing leadership and management to the staff team, including people leaders (5) and professional staff (20) within the Policy and Advocacy Division.

Working closely with the CEO and the Board of Directors, you will develop and execute innovative, high impact strategies and activities to advance the Association’s **advocacy efforts** in support of members and their partners and identify engagement and leadership opportunities to strategically position the OHA as an **influential leader in shaping the future of Ontario’s health care system**. You will continue to build new relationships and strengthen existing ones with key community stakeholders, particularly OHA Members, elected officials, public-service leaders and health care partners. As a member of the senior management team, the Vice President participates in planning, managing and evaluating the OHA’s performance. The work of this position is done in a demanding, fast-paced environment.

You will provide leadership, strategic direction and oversight in respect of the following areas:

- Policy and Advocacy_
- Issue management, policy development and advocacy respecting system capacity, health human resource challenges, and integrated care to address post-COVID recovery and facilitate system transformation
- Annual pre
- and post-budget advocacy strategy, including development of OHA submission and outreach to government
- In collaboration with members, academic partners and the provincial government, development of new funding methodologies to incentivize performance management, quality improvement and integration of care
- Focused research initiatives and analytics to identify emerging issues and support evidence-based advocacy
- Hospital accountability initiatives (including annual funding/planning and accountability agreements) and related compliance/oversight issues
- Legal and legislative issues (including analysis, submissions to government and advice/implementation supports to hospitals)
- Physician and professional issues in collaboration with stakeholder partners and government
- Advocacy and support to members on quality/safety, risk and public health emergency management issues
- Development of hospital governance guidance, tools and educational resources to members
- Member engagement with senior leadership through six Provincial Leadership Networks (Mental Health and Addictions; Complex Continuing Care and Rehabilitation; Medium-Sized Hospitals; Small Rural and Northern; Physician Leadership; and Financial Leaders) to address current issues and inform OHA policy & advocacy strategies

- health research and care delivery across Ontario that drives sustainable and transformational science, clinical excellence, health equity and an agile diverse workforce of scientists and innovators; and
- interprofessional and evidence-informed learning that enables thriving health professionals, a high functioning health system and exceptional patient care
- Evidence-informed advocacy to federal and provincial governments in support of enhanced investments in hospital-based research
