Reporting to CIFAR’s new President and CEO Dr. Stephen Toope, and as a member of CIFAR’s executive team, the Vice President, Research supports the President and CEO in maintaining the intellectual leadership of CIFAR’s research programs and related activities. The Vice President, Research will have deep insights into high risk, high reward and emerging areas of research globally, and a vision for the role CIFAR can play in advancing science and society. They will provide strategic leadership in the development and evolution of CIFAR’s research portfolio, in identifying new research activities, and in furthering CIFAR’s international reach and partnerships. They will engage in the advancement, advocacy and promotion of CIFAR among key stakeholder groups.

The Vice President, Research oversees and leads a highly talented and motivated team of research directors as well as support staff who manage CIFAR’s portfolio of global research programs, our knowledge mobilization activities, the CIFAR Azrieli Global Scholars program and the Global Call For Ideas. The Vice President, Research is also responsible for research partnerships at CIFAR.

En 2017, le gouvernement du Canada a désigné le CIFAR pour mettre au point et mener la Stratégie pancanadienne en matière d’IA, la première stratégie nationale au monde dans ce domaine.

Le vice-président ou la vice-présidente à la recherche assurera la supervision et la direction d’une équipe de directeurs de recherche extrêmement talentueux et motivés et du personnel de soutien, tous chargés de gérer les programmes de recherche mondiaux du CIFAR, ses activités de mobilisation des connaissances, le programme de chercheurs mondiaux CIFAR-Azrieli et l’Appel à idées mondial. Le vice-président, Recherche est également responsable des partenariats de recherche au CIFAR.

Le vice-président ou la vice-présidente à la recherche connaîtra et comprendra parfaitement le contexte de la recherche canadien et mondial et sera en mesure d’évaluer les nouveaux programmes et initiatives pour le compte du CIFAR. La personne idéale sera un chercheur ou une chercheuse d’expérience qui a l’estime de ses confrères et consœurs, ayant bénéficié de nombreuses bourses mondialement reconnues.
