At Canadian Natural, we believe in empowering our Supply Management Professionals to support the operational activities of our Conventional, Thermal, and Oil Sands production. As a Contracts Specialist in the Oil Sands team based in Calgary, you will be responsible for managing the entire sourcing cycle, from developing strategies and issuing proposals, to negotiating and awarding contracts. You will work closely with our operational teams, driving change and seeking continuous improvements in our supply management processes.
You will have exposure to all phases of the contracting process, from developing cost analytics and plans, to executing and leading the contract management requirements for a portfolio of contracts. You will have the opportunity to make a significant impact on our business by working with a variety of stakeholders to maximize efficiency.
**Key Accountabilities**:
- Lead and support sourcing, contracting, and vendor development activities for an assigned portfolio of contracts, collaborating with internal and external stakeholders to ensure alignment and compliance with business requirements, terms and conditions, and service level agreements
- Conduct market research, data analysis, risk assessments, and contract negotiations to provide valuable insights, drive continuous improvement, and safeguard the organization’s interests
- Develop and deliver reports and metrics, including spend evaluations and cost comparisons, to enable informed business decisions and support contract compliance efforts and audits
- Demonstrate exceptional time management and relationship building skills, working within tight timelines, tracking action items, and keeping internal stakeholders informed throughout the sourcing and contracting lifecycle
- Stay up-to-date with current industry trends, regulations, and best practices, engaging in continuous learning to enhance contract management methodologies and contribute to organizational growth
- Prepare, administer, and manage contracts, including change orders and amendments as needed, ensuring smooth contract management and maintaining auditable contract files
**Other Details**:
- Job location: Calgary, Alberta (On-site)
- Shift schedule: 5 x 2, 8 hours/day, Monday - Friday
- This is a safety sensitive position
**Skills & Qualifications**:
- Typically 5-15+ years of contract management experience with a university degree or related post-secondary education
- Desire to pursue or completion of a Supply Chain Management Professional designation is considered an asset
- Practical experience with contract development, including exposure to negotiating contract terms and conditions and leading commercial negotiations
- Experience with contract management systems
- Experienced in Microsoft Office, including Excel, Power Point and Word
- Strong verbal and written communication skills
