Child and Youth Care Worker

**Heritage Family Services is seeking an experienced Team Lead Worker for a program in Wetaskiwin, AB.**
**Responsibilities**:
Create and maintain trusting relationships, demonstrating respect for individuality
Provide a safe and secure environment for youth, following security protocols as outlined in the Policy Manual to maintain a stable, low-anxiety environment
Lead shifts, offering additional support, coaching, and guidance to clients and staff
Carry out daily routines and youth-centered programming
Assist in meal preparation
Celebrate and support the youth's self-concept
Advocate for each child/youth, ensuring access to the Child and Youth Advocate's office
Provide a caring and nurturing environment that aligns with the youth’s emotional state
Support youth in developing basic life skills, including social information processing, cognitive reframing, and self-regulation
**Requirements**:
A two-year Diploma in the Human Services field and a minimum of three years of relevant experience (such as working with children/youth)
Must be at least 18 years of age
Valid Alberta Class 5 Driver’s License and Drivers Abstract (with less than 6 demerits) will be required
Criminal Record Check with Vulnerable Sector, Child Intervention Check within the last 6 months of commencement date
First Aid/CPR Certification (or willingness to obtain)
Proficiency in therapeutic care and the Therapeutic Crisis Intervention (TCI) model, with a solid understanding of child development, trauma, loss, and grief
Understanding and respect for Indigenous traditions and culturally appropriate care practices
Respect for diversity, including an understanding of various identities, genders, and sexualities, and familiarity with appropriate terminology and pronouns
Ability to communicate cross-culturally and effectively work with individuals and groups, including those with socially marginalized identities and experiences

Pay: $23.01 per hour
