**Starting Salary**:$52,220 - $59,520, per year based on experience. Salary Range Max $67,900 [2023 Rates]

**The Role**

The main objective of the Education Officer is to run and coordinate various education activities focusing on the K-12 education system and/or post-secondary education.

**Duties include, but are not limited to**:
**In carrying out the following duties, it is expected that the **_**Education Officer**_ **will**:

- Fully understand the significance and fundamental importance of MNO’s _Statement of Prime Purpose_ (SPP) to all MNO’s work, and to the requirements of the position specifically
- Adhere to MNO _Policies and Procedures_ and MNO’s _Financial Policies and Procedures_ and all other applicable policy
- Comply with and model MNO’s _Standards of Professional Conduct_
- Adhere to all applicable privacy law and respect confidential information at all times
- Be cognizant of and compliant at all times with the MNO workplace policy and procedures, the Ontario Employment Standards Act, Occupational Health and Safety Act, Workplace Safety and Insurance Act, Ontario Human Rights Code and other legislative and policy provisions governing the MNO workplace.
- Ensure that all activities are conducted in accordance with established Métis Nation of Ontario Policies and Procedures and transfer payment/contribution agreements.
- Work in collaboration within the Education & Training branch, other MNO branches, MNO leadership, MNO citizens and MNO contractors and consultants on related projects
- Act as an advocate on behalf of the MNO and the work of the MNO Education & Training Branch
- Attend and participate in the MNO Annual General Assembly and Branch training as directed

**The incumbent is responsible for the following duties, as well as other duties as may be assigned by the Manager**:

- effectively oversee the day-to-day assigned Education and Training project activities
- complete assigned project tasks, monitor project progress and ensure deadlines are met
- gather project statistics as directed, establish and maintain spreadsheets
- provide input and oversight to the development of work plans and projects
- outreach and build relationships with education stakeholders/partners as required
- deliver presentations at conferences, workshops and in communities when directed
- plan and coordinate meetings and education events with attendance when required
- effective outreach to, and engagement of, Métis learners
- assist with research and preparation of position papers and communications
- review education issues to keep branch management apprized
- review education initiatives and respond as needed to information requirements
- promote Métis culture and education
- prepare briefing notes, communications, presentations, and products to support managers
- process volunteer expense claims, professional fees, and stipends
- recruit, train and oversee volunteers as required
- maintain an effective, confidential and accountable filing system
- some travel throughout the province at times requiring stays at locations other than place of residence and extended hours of work may be required

**Qualifications**
- Strong desire to act in the service of the Métis Citizens, to advance and uphold rights and culture
- College or University certification and or 2-3 years of policy and project management experience will be considered. A bachelor of Education degree is considered an asset
- At least 2 years of education or related experience
- Knowledge, skills & experience
- Bilingualism in English and French is an asset.
- Speaking or experience with the Michif Language would be an asset
- Dependability and strong work ethic
- Willingness to learn and ability to take direction
- Commitment to organizational learning, training and education
- Effective interpersonal and liaison skills to work collaboratively
- Well-developed administrative and organizational skills
- Ability to present to management, public stakeholders and partners, via written reports or verbal presentations
