**Community Living Algoma and THRIVE Child Development Centre through the Canada Summer Jobs initiative has employment opportunities for students for the following Youth Mentor summer student position**

**Reporting to THRIVE/CLA**
- A Youth Mentor will provide support, education and awareness to youth interested in volunteering and developing job readiness skills. The Youth Mentor will connect with community agencies and search out volunteer opportunities; build a volunteer and transportation schedule for the special needs youth during the summer. The Youth Mentor will support youth volunteers with disabilities/varying abilities.

**Skills Preferred**:

- Experience working with children/youth who experience an intellectual disability and/or Autism is an asset.
- Demonstrated leadership and teamwork skills.
- Aptitude to work independently and problem solve.
- Ability to relate to participants in a professional and caring manner.
- Willing to work flexible hours according to the varying requirements of the summer camp.

**Qualifications**:
Individuals must:

- Preferred - Post secondary in Health or Human Services (ECE, DSW, CYW, Recreation/Leisure Studies, etc.);
- Hold a valid driver’s license;
- Have access to a reliable vehicle
- Student returning to school in the fall (18-30 years old)
- Be legally entitled to work in Canada in accordance with relevant provincial/territorial legislation and regulations
- Satisfactory criminal background check and vulnerable sector screen (CPIC)
- Proof of full COVID-19 vaccination is a job requirement

**Period of Employment**:12 weeks starting June 5, 2023

Full time days, Monday to Friday

**Hours of Work**: 30 - 40 hours per week

**Wages**:$17.50
