**Responsibilities**:
Reporting to the Senior Operations Planner, the Operations Planner will be accountable for, but not limited to: developing and modifying train schedules in accordance with daily, monthly, and yearly operating plans; revisions to train schedules and operations instructions required to support maintenance activities and abnormal operations; use Automatic Train Control (ATC) simulator, tests and verifies ATC software revisions prior to the use in revenue service; develops Special Event planning and train schedules; supports the delivery of customer information related to service changes, including configuration of automated information systems; supervises and assigns tasks to the Operations Clerk for the compilation and review of service delivery statistics, special event information and other Operations documentation. As required, works directly with Control Operations to assist with the implementation of new ATC software or operating strategies.

**Qualifications**:
The competencies for this position would typically be acquired through a diploma or degree in urban studies, planning, transportation engineering or equivalent, plus four (4) years of experience in transit operations and/or planning, automated train control, rail transit operations documentation of systems and statistical analysis.

OTHER REQUIREMENTS:
Sound knowledge of the principles, theories, concepts and practices of transportation planning

Solid leadership skills with the ability to provide technical guidance and expertise to other transportation planning professionals and to lead projects

Solid analytical skills including the ability to identify and communicate transportation planning and project-related risks and opportunities in an integrated, multi-disciplinary environment; includes skills to analyze transport data and schedule and operating data

Solid communication skills including the ability to write and deliver well-prepared reports and presentations

Solid decision-making skills including the ability to resolve transportation planning and project-related issues within defined limits, and to identify and know when to refer issues to others.

Completion of the BCRTC ATC Operators course is desirable.

**Other Information**:
Recruitment Process: An applicant will be required to demonstrate their suitability for this position by meeting the minimum level of qualifications and experience in order to be invited into the selection process. A standard interview format will be used including general, scenario and behavioural descriptive interview questions.

**Work Schedule**:
40 hours per week.

Hybrid

This position offers the flexibility of working both on-site and remotely within B.C.

**Rate of Pay**:
Salary $77,718 - $97,147 per annum (Actual salary offered will be commensurate with education, experience and internal parity).
